Race for the Taste and Twilight Zone 13k not returning 2010

Ahhh...So what's the problem? It seems as though they are just replacing them.

Will the running be any different?:lookaroun:lol:

The problem is that costs of races at Disney. Any local charity group can throw together a 5/10k. Disney usually puts a bit more in their races. However, they charge vastly more. Most local 10ks are under 25 bucks to register, and most half marathons are under 50 or so, fulls not much more. The ToT race was $85 this year. Yeah it includs the post race party, but thats about it. Most bigger races include a tech shirt, and many offer vastly better food spreads for a vastly cheaper cost.

As if now the ToT race is only half full, 2 months out. The marathon weekend already sold out the Half, they had to expand the Goofy which is now 98% full, and the full is at 88% full. And that event is still 4 months out, and about 5 times the size of the ToT race.

I will give them that the ToT race is pretty unique, running a 13k is a random length, and running at night is also pretty unique, but the RFTT is a fairly normal 10k, that just happens to have some fancy food samples at the end. (Akin to what I can get from lots of local races) So I can see how they are having problems getting the numbers they want. Shifting from two loosely themed events to a single much better themed larger race may be a smart move for them. (Surprisingly, the EE run is still on the schedule) Maybe a pirates/halloween themed half marathon? To complement the Princess half and tie in with the season they are likely to hold it?

Woulda loved to have done the final ToT race to say I did all 3 of em, but I can't justify flying down just for that. It makes an expensive race, ridiculously expensive.

Wow, I recently found out the TOT 13K is taking place while we happen to be there, and that is a distance that I really enjoy running. After working out some logistical issues, I am about to register for it. Interesting that it will be the last time the race is run. I wonder if they'll do anything extra special for its finale.

If you want to sign the registry, get there early as it was pretty darn full of names fairly early. My room key is still on my fridge. Shame it says courtesy of ASIphotos.com on it.

Sounds like this is replacing the "time travel" theme they had last year?

It was a decent event, just make sure to get to things early in case they under estimate demand..

oh, oops . . . sorry about that. I should have signed my name a little smaller?

I also still have my room key, but I put it in a shadow box with the glow in the dark bib (it still glows), the wrist band, a race photo taken by those ASI photographers, a printout of my finishing time . . . and of course, the finisher medal. :D

Hello,

I have a couple questions,

1- What are the "clues" for, is there a puzzle to solve at the end of the race?

2- What kind of food do they have for the runners and their guests at the after party?

I have signed up for this race, I can't wait for it.

1. When you finish the race, you next do a short obstacle course and after finishing that, you are given a book with questions (4 I think last year) to go back into the park and answer. When you answer all 4 questions, you go to the finish line, turn in your book and are scored on total combined time plus accuracy in answering the questions.

2. At the end of the race, there are bottled sports drinks, bananas, and some other quick foods for runners at no charge. Beyond the finish area, various restaurants and vendors are open but you have to pay.

Good luck with the race. I hope you have as much fun as I did last year!

Thanks for your reply, but, the clues I was mentioning are for the ToT 13k not the EEC. The description says that there are clues along the race, I was wondering what they were for?

Any idea?

whoops. . . Sorry, I haven't heard anything else about the clues for this year's ToT. There weren't any the last 2 years.

rumor has it they will host another 1/2 marathon - run at night - to replace these races - they will probably make it another "race weekend" and also have a 5K or another race.
