This totally sucks! I saw him 5 times in concert since the 80's. One of the best concerts I've ever seen in my life was Prince's Purple Rain tour in 1984. I've seen well over 200 concerts in my lifetime and his ranks in the top 3. I shook his hand from the front row of a pop up concert he did in 1998 during the New Power Soul tour.

This man was as talented of a musician that you will ever find. There will not be another like him. He will be sorely missed. :(

He was an innovative, talented artist.

One of my best memories of Prince was his performance on the Super Bowl Halftime Show several years back. It was raining cats and dogs and he plugged ahead, playing the guitar masterfully, despite the driving, heavy rain. And unlike the guitar played by the Red Hot Chili Peppers' guitarist, he played live. You could hear it in the way the guitar sounded also. He was drenched from head to toe. A real trooper.

"1999" was my favorite pop song of his.

My first time to see him I was about 15 and my mother did not approve and forbade me to go - she thought he was too vulgar - so I pretended to have a babysitting job when really my boyfriend picked me up and we went to the concert. :angelic:

I was 14 and I bought Lovesexy with my babysitting money. "Alphabet St." was my favorite Prince song. Anyway, my mom saw the cassette in my bedroom and proceeded to ask me many questions about it. I think she thought the cover was a bit risqué for a 14 yo girl. But, wow, I definitely did not see this coming. :(
