As with my last trip, I'm not going to type a full trip report (others are better at those than I am anyways.)
However, I'll pass along some observations from my trip (just got back yesterday):
The Good:
The Less Good:
All in all, my minor "complaints" notwithstanding, this was really an excellent trip to the World. I always wonder if I'm still going to like it after going so many times (this was the 3rd in a 12-month period, after all,) but it never fails to be a good time overall.
Now, paying off the vacation today was less fun, but...that's not really Disney's fault, I guess.
The Good:
- The Poly upgraded us again! This time we got a water/Castle view room. Awesome, awesome view -- best I've seen in a WDW room.
- The Poly, in general. How much do I love this resort? Answer: a lot. :animwink:
- Excellent weather. A little bit of rain but nothing we couldn't handle.
- WAY fewer rude guests than we encountered on our November trip. I saw far fewer CMs taking abuse, which made me happy.
- Crowds were not ANYTHING approaching an "8" or "9". I have no idea where TouringPlans got those numbers, but it was basically the same as last May -- not empty, not crazy. Plenty of FastPasses to be had -- several times our FPs were for an hour or so from the time we got them.
- We got to eat at Sanaa! They were definitely working through some service training, etc, but the food was very good and I am so, so excited that I can get samosas there!
The Less Good:
- LOTS of small children having meltdowns -- maybe it was the heat, or that older kids were still in school, but oh my goodness I saw more 2-5 year olds flipping out than I ever have in 20 years of visiting WDW. Not really something that made my trip less good, I just felt bad for all the parents dealing with toddlers that were freaking out.
- Disney inexplicably checking me, and only me, into our flight on our way home. I never even asked to use the airline check in, so I'm not sure what was going on there. It didn't adversely affect anything at the airport (I just basically ended up re-checking myself in later,) but it was a bit baffling. I love DME and all the nice services Disney's added to the check in/out processes, but it seems like every time something weird happens to me (last time they left my luggage at the airport and forgot to get it until I called and asked about it when it was late evening, and then they left all my DME departure papers in the wrong room when it was time for us to leave.)
- Why do they crank the AC so much in so many places in Florida? I don't want to be sweating in a restaurant, of course, and I appreciate the cool air, but if it's 85 and sunny outside, it doesn't need to be 50 degrees indoors. We shivered through several of our meals. I paid to fly to warmer temperatures, not to be reminded of Wisconsin!
