Queueing

on my recent trip to DLC for the first time i was shocked (and i don't remember WDW being the same) at the amount of people pushing into queues and people seem to think it is acceptable.

i would say it happened on pretty much everything we queued for (maybe more than once) it is a shocking state of affairs.

it seems it has become common practice to send 1 of your party off to queue while the others do something else.

I woul dnever do such a thing, as it is not on.
Nobody ever says anything (including me) as it is deemed rude to comment. but i feel it is more rude to keep pushing past people.

if you are one of these people you need to look at yourselves and try and think what other people feel!

i bet it added over our holidy a good 30mins - 1 hour to our wait time.

and i am not talking about 1 / 2 people, sometimes it was parties of about 6 people - THIS IS NOT ON.

On one of the rides we queued behind someone who said they had sent their son out to get icecreams (i think?!) and we queued for about 30 mins and he still hand't come back and i was kind of thinking well to be fair this serves you right. And what happeded they basically got treasted like royality when they gort to the front. " our son has not come back" "oh thats ok, here is a free front of line queue so you can come straight back here later" - MAKES ME SO ANGRY :zipit:

on a positive note, great first time to DLC, loved both parks. some rides i would say i prefer at WDW and some i would say i prefer at DLC - makes a nice change.

anyone else got any thoughts on this queueing system?

I have never encountered that on any of my visits to WDW (I've never been to DLC) but it sounds kind of stressful!

As for parties of 6 or more pushing through, I think I might of found a castmember and let them know that this was happening, instead of feeling like you are the rude one for saying something.

Hope this didn't put too much of a damper on your trip!

I have never been to DLC but I went to DLP a few years back and found exactly the same problem. We queued for Pirates and there was a woman pushing her child past me so that she could try and get in front of me in the queue and she was so impatient that she actually stood on the backs of my shoes and pulled them off 3 times!!!

Then, queuing for the Indy ride, there were groups of 6-10 teenagers just climbing over the barriers and jumping into the queue wherever they felt like it!

That was the main reason (aside from the general obnoxious attitudes of everyone else!) that I vowed I would never go back to DLP - or indeed Paris - ever again!!

this is what i can't understand. i was stood there racking my brains thinking all the times i have been to WDW i am sure this has never happened on such mass. you don't mind the odd 1 / 2 happening, but honestly this is no exagertaion no ride went by without this happening to us.

i felt embaressed for them to be honest with you.

this is not what disney is all about!!!!

I think it takes some guts to refuse people to go past while stood in line.

I remember doing it on our first Florida trip - we were stood in line for breakfast when a group of teenage males (17-19 yrs) tried to push past to join some girls up ahead. Now I'm 6'6" and weigh in at over 17 stone, but I felt somewhat intimidated when everyone (both infront and behind) starts kicking up a fuss because you won't let them jump the line.

The difficulty is proving that the person skipping the line hasn't just gone to get ice-cream or the toilet or some other legitimate excuse - I can't see a way that Disney can police it fairly unless they adopt a complete no line jumping policy and enforce it rigidly

This is the problem we saw, we were going to tell someone, but what are they going to do? what can they do?

also the person might as you say have done it for a legitimate reason, and might be the first time they have ever done it and woul dnot normally do it. plus they don't know that it has happened to you all day.

but yo ucan see it on some peoples faces that they do it all day, and they don't care less.

you can just tell some people are told, you go and queue for that and we will queue for this and let us know how you get on.

it is NOT acceptable ... but what is anyone going to do about it

if anyone does this on here please feel ashamed!
(unless good reason, and only ever done it once)

i am sure it will come the day when I have to do the same thing, but it seems people do it alot.

i just thought this was a strange comparison with WDW, that i am sure from memory, and it seems people who have commented on here today that this does not happen at WDW, and i hope it stays this way!

That abosolutly drives me crazy. I don't mind 1 or 2 people, especially if it is a little kid and their parent, most of us have been there before with kids and bathrooms. But when it gets to be teenagers or families, I draw the line. I used to go during cheerleader week, and they would go running through the lines, holding hands, pulling everyone in their party along, usually more than 10 of them. Also teenagers, who finally are away from their parents, like to do that a lot as well. As long as no one says anything, they will continue to do it. I can't keep my mouth shut, so I'll say something about there is no way in he'll, that your going in front of me. They are usually stunned that someone said anything, and by then other people in line will finally pipe up as well, they shut their mouths, and wait in line like the rest of us.

I don't think WDW is imune from this type of thing nor is DLR but I think one of the biggest offending lines would have to be Matterhorn and Finding Nemo: Submarine Voyage. With both being so close to each other and having a line thats very accessable to the main walk ways and with the Nemo line going so slow many guests tend to leave part of there party in line at Nemo and head to Matterhorn (usually 30 mins max; or Tomorrowland Terrace for food (sometimes Tomorrowland Terrace tends to be really slow). Which IMO is fine but its the people who just push there way through like they own the line who are really rude and uncalled for. Needless to say though I'v encounted this at WDW too.

I saw this as well during my trip to DL. The worst was on the Nemo ride and there wa sa group of 4 in front of me ready to board and 6 more people said they were in the same party and tried to join the 4 in front. Luckily the CM said no.

There was quite the debate about this a while back. With some members here defending their right to enjoy other attractions while someone else held their place in name. I refuse to name names, but some are still active here today. :lookaroun

i am sure this does happen at WDW but from my many trips i can not remember being this annoyed with the amount of times this happened.

it seems just the done thing at DLC.

i kind of wish now that i had said something, but as i said you feel embaressed to say anything, where as the people doing this should be the embaressed ones!

it doesn't just seem to the the rides with the queueing outside (Nemo, Mattahorn) people push all thre way even on the inside rides (Star Tours etc)

we even experienced a kind of ther same thing in US at a food outlet. a lady kept pushing against me and my partner and then kind of edged her way past us (not joining somebody else - just pushy), so i made sure when i went round the corner that i pushed back infront and pushed my elbow in her direction so it was up to her if she walked into it (i was not being violent) i was really ready for an arguement (less Disney minded in US :ROFLOL:) but she just kind of stood there and ignored us.

just find it hard to believe people can be so rude.

I suppose people think things we do are rude maybe aswell ... but i don't think we/I effect anyone else int he things i do. (maybe i do )

We have a theme park here, Alton Towers, and they take a zero tolerance approach on queue hopping. That includes holding the line for someone else. And I really admire them for it!

As for what can they do? Alton Towers have signs up everywhere saying that if you queue jump, they will remove you from the park and you may be refused entry on any future visits!!

All Six Flags parks have a documented rule that prohibits line hoping or place saving. It even goes so far as to say if you get out of line, you must return to the back of the line.

Not sure, but I would have thought Disney has at least an unwritten rule about that. But for anyone who's been at Disney (Disney World this is) during Brazilian vacation time...WOW. One person saves the line for 50 people and when you say something, they look at you like they don't understand English. The fun part is, I understand Spanish.

"Oh I remember you, you were thrown out of here two years ago last Friday for queue jumping - you're not coming back in"

A good idea but a little bit hard to police. I know Disney say that they don't tolerate line jumping but I've never heard of anyone being thrown out - can you imagine all that lost revenue by throwing a Brazilian tour group out

We were in line for 20 minutes when my 3 year old had to potty. My DH took her to the restroom and then jumped back in line (to meet Mickey and Minnie at Mickey's house) with my other daughter and I. There were tons of other people that did the same with their little ones. I think that kind of thing is tolerated and understandable. If WDW was to enforce such a rule like at Six Flags, I think there would be an uproar. Little ones have to potty.

Now, I did hop out of line when were were at Dumbo to run and get Fast Passes for Winnie The Pooh but then I felt bad about jumping back in with the family so I didn't do it again. We had been in line for 10 minutes without much movement so I figured it wouldn't hurt to hop out and hop back in. No one said anything but I felt bad enough anyway. Ok, flame me if you must....

I see nothing wrong with that - you joined the line initially with your family, left briefly and returned . Its not like you returned with the rest of your extended family and another 30 people who you just met

That's what I thought too but then I just felt guilty anyway. No sense if feeling that way in WDW.. so I probably wouldn't do it again. It just feels awkward walking past others in line, ya know?
