Questions Following the Christmas Parade

I agree....I actually thought that this year's parade was one of the better parades in recent years, though I had no idea who most of the talent was.

So that was Kimberly Locke....whatever.

As for Raven...I'm liking her more...because she's a good role model for the young girls (and I have one). I would rather have a girl that's happy with her body that God gave her rather than an anorexic stick like Lindsay Lohan or Hillary Duff.
And that is one of many reasons I love Raven. Yay for her :D

Ease up with the politics or this thread will probably be deleted.

Merry Christmas!

first three posts=three cracks at President Bush. I guess people can't come up with anything original, so they get their fodder from CNN.

I honestly didn't enjoy this parade as much as I did last year. I guess first off because it was at 5pm here in Orlando instead of at 10am in the morning. It's always been a tradition for my family and I to make Christmas Breakfast and watch the Christmas Parade. I was a little bummed out to see Jack Hanna's show on...

Anyway, I know it's 50 years for Disneyland and that's why they focused more on that parade this year, but I still think they could have given a little more time to Disney World's Parade. The shots were so fast and it seemed like they just FLEW through the first 3/4 of the parade in 5 minutes.

I wasn't crazy about Kelly and Regis this year, TelePrompting really stinks.

Some of the performances were good, I really like Aly and AJ and the Cheetah Girls. But I missed Jump 5 this year, they did play "Welcome" for that one bit in Disneyland with the floats and everything but it still wasn't the same as actually having Jump 5 there.

Other than that it was OK, I wasn't crazy about the whole thing but it was nice to at least see the parade this year :)

i actually even think that they used the same footage from Disneyland's Parade of Dreams from last years christmas parade.

And i just love hearing everyones comments because most of them are the same ones my mom and i made, especially the animatronic Bush.

In my opinion, almost the entire thing was an advertisment. I remember Kelly saying something along the line of, "My kids love Beauty and the Beast and the always visit Beauty and the Beast Live which by the way is now playing at Disney-MGM Studios."

And it sounded SO SCRIPTED!!

Um...I don't know if any of you have ever noticed...but every single parade they've aired has been a giant advertisment. My fiance and I watched a tape I had of the easter parade that we watched from like 1992 and it was just a big promotion for all the new stuff they were putting in that year. So truthfully, it isn't something new they just started doing.

(And by the way...those sounded extrememly scripted too...it's just the nature of the Disney parades they televise.)

Actually, that wasn't even Jump 5. That was the show stop music for PoD, which wasn't recorded by Jump 5 (although I'm not exactly sure who).

I totally LOVE Raven for the very same thing! Wonderful acceptance of her own body. RAVEN.....You Go Girl!

I was happy that the parade was on. It was on at 7 am here, so I taped it and watched it later. I was disappointed that there was little crowd interaction, that is always one of my favorite parts.

I did like the sneak peek at Expedition Everest, my hubby and I are getting so pysched for that thing.

Anyway, I was very disappointed with the singer at the end, I can't remember her name but she was the Latin singer. And not to sound mean but she looked like a trashy Disney princess and her lip synching was very off.

Oh, one more thing... if Kelly is bored doing the parades, I'll do it for her! I wouldn't mind being paid to be at WDW!

THe lip synching for all the performers was very off. I noticed that quite a bit. But beggers can't be choosers. It is better watching horrid lip synching rather than no parade at all.

RE: Christmas Parade

First, I was surprised that they didn't call the parade Walt Disney World's Very Merry Christmas Parade, it was just Christmas Parade. The editing was very very jerky especially at the beginning, as well as Regis and Kelly's script was lacking.
I did enjoy the scenes from the old Walt Disney television shows and I really enjoyed Raven's trip through Everest....I do admit I am a big Raven fan, I think Disney should use her more and in my opinion, she is the ONLY thing positive going on the Disney Channel right now and her trip through Everest did not have the awkward feeling like the time they "surprised" some girl with no arms on a previous parade.
I did wonder where Star Jones' husband was....in that long commercial for Disney Vacation Club hosted by Miss The View.
And I thought having G.W. on the Christmas parade was in poor taste....but I will reserve comment on that.
And lastly, I thought it was AMAZING that they were able to make it sunny in Orlando, Anaheim, Paris, Tokyo, and Hong Kong all at the same time, even when it was the middle of the night in Asia and 6:00pm in Paris. Way to go, Disney!
Do it right next year, Disney, or please do not bother and replace Regis and Kelly with Raven as host and emcee of the parade.

EVERY parade on television is scripted, and all of them are horrible. For the most part, the commentary points out the painfully obvious ("Look! the Anheuser Busch Clydsdales are pulling the float!"), and the hosts are expected to deliver it with a fever pitch of enthusiasm that is hard to maintain and even harder to endure.

That said, actors (and Regis and Kelly are definitely actors) are paid to act and to give life to the most insipid of prose.

It's not just the WDW parade that is painful. If you don't believe me, watch the New Year's parades this weekend.

and on a related note:
Watching the Pasedena parade was a big deal to my family on Jan 1. I remember when my grandparents got a color TV and how excited everyone was to watch the Rose Bowl parade in living color.

Yes, children, we got really excited about things like that.
Man, I'm old....

All parades are the same... poor scripts, bad reading of the scripts and lipsynced performances. Some of the performers were better than others, but only a couple were good enough to keep from fast forwarding the TiVo. :D

I thought the introduction of the patriotic section by the Bush family was a nice touch. Whether we agree with the politics of the situation or not, everyone should support our men and women in the military. Many of them didn't have the opportunity to sit at home with their families and watch (and whine about) the Christmas parade.

:lookaroun You mean TV hasn't always been in color? Sorry, couldn't help myself. As far as the Kelly thing goes, I definitely have to agree that she looked like she couldn't be bothered. It's a shame that Disney probably paid her quite a bit to do the parade and she did such a bad job. Yes, the script is partially to blame but Regis was working off the same script and he didn't come off like he was completely phoning it in.

OK, I'm not quite as old [close though]. I remember having a "colourizer" screen attachment; A screen magnifier that had a green stripe across the bottom and a blue stripe across the top [thus grass was green and sky was blue]. :lookaroun Didn't help much with indoor shots, which most TV shows other than "Lassie" and "Gunsmoke" were!

[and we walked ten miles to school, barefoot in the snow and uphill both ways ]
