Questions about the Best Western Park Place

This will be my 2nd Disneyland trip ever and I was wondering if anyone here had any opinions about the Best Western Park Place across the street from the Esplanade? The location is obviously wonderful and I was able to get a AAA discount for $108 a night and it looks decent enough. Can anyone compare this hotel to the Howard Johnson that is a little bit up the road from this? I hear great things about the HoJo, but it is a decent amount higher and isn't as close. I plan on literally just showering and sleeping, but I still don't want to stay in a total dump either. Thanks!

I haven't stayed there but I've heard from plenty of people that it's just fine and clean. Since you're not looking for something big and just need a place to sleep and shower then you should be good!

I stayed there for Disneyland's 55th. Nice enough room, comfortable bed.

You can do FAR better (like less than half that price) if you use Priceline.com's 'name your price' service ... I have frequently and will be for my upcoming trip.

Check BiddingForTravel.com and BetterBidding.com. ... Just a personal, but highly educated, opinion, but I think your price is absurdly high versus what can be had.

You've been to DL instead of WDW?!??!? ... I think I need some water ... wait, something stronger!:D
Twice! And I'll be there again next year for the D23 Expo and some park time.

My personal preference in the something stronger category is Louis XIII... If you have any.

I would value paying $25 or $30 a night for the location of Park Place. Especially since I won't be renting a car and will be walking to the parks.

That was the Anaheim Inn, Mr. Monty. :p BW Park Place is basically right at the crosswalk, with BW Anaheim Inn like two hotels down the way.

In my experience, Anaheim Inn is usually a tad cheaper. I haven't stayed at Park Place, but I have stayed at Anaheim Inn a few times and have always had a fantastic stay. The difference in distance isn't a problem, it tacks on like an extra minute of walking, heh.

OK, so I remembered a BW across the street... **Sigh**

At least I had good neighbours...

I looked at them, but the price is less than $10 difference from what I could tell. Basically the same thing. Thanks for the heads up though.

I'm shocked, Monty. ... Pleased too! ... When were you last out?

And, no, I don't even have any cheap wine let alone Louis XIII ... but you rich Canadians can afford it all. I should be nicer to you and maybe I can get you to buy me a cheap Dole Whip one day!:D

Everyone is different. I don't need to be across the street.

My point was far better values exist. Yes, you may have to take a 5-minute bus ride, but there are so many options.

For my visit in January (sorta an unplanned one since there was a death in the family) I wound up at the Fullerton Marriott (a very nice hotel with no parking or resort fees) for $50 a night. Yeah, I had a 10-minute drive up Harbor Blvd. to DL, but I didn't care because the value for the hotel was well worth it ... and 10 minutes may be what it takes just to walk from your room to a bus stop at a WDW value or moderate resort!

LOLz! No need to be "nicer", if we ever happen to meet I'd be honoured to buy you a Dole Whip. While we trade barbs on occasion, I think we'd get along just fine in person.

I first went to DL in 2004, then for D55 and planning is under way for next year's Expo. After I retire, I'll attempt Hong Kong, Tokyo, Shanghai and Paris, just not all on one trip.

Maybe you've been drinking?:D
No, just wasn't paying enough attention to realise there were two Best Western hotels in spitting distance of each other.

Stayed there July 18-23, had a blast. Got the same AAA rate and being directly across the street was amazing! You get what you pay for; the beds were not amazingly comfortable but I slept fine after doing the parks all day. There aren't crazy amenities or anything, but the location can't be beat and I would definitely stay there again.

What is the parking situation here? Looking to go next June and we will have a car. Are there a lot of spaces? Are they tiny spaces?
