Question (Kind of Urgent)

I was just wondering if any one has ever been denied a chance at working at WDW? I actually have a phone interview today, but I don't want to work there until Summer/Fall 2008. So if I tell the interviewer that, will that kill the chance of me working there in 2008 or will they just blow it off? I really want to work there, but my parents talked me into waiting a year for financial reasons. If you think I shouldn't mention that in the interview, will it take away from my chances of getting accepted later if I decline the position offered. Thanks for any help.

Did I miss somthing?

Why are you interviewing today if you dont want to start working there untill next year?

You want to start working, in I assume the Cp, only to start in 2008?? Thats well over a year my friend. They are only currently recruiting for the spring/summer program of 2007....

I assume they wont start interviewing for Fall '08 untill Winter '08, a year from now.

Good Luck in your interview though. The interviewer makes it very comfortable, so relax and have fun.

The lady at the Disney meeting said that "it wouldn't hurt to go through the process and see how it works". I just want to make sure that it won't hurt, if you know what I mean. I don't want to get offered a job and then decline it because I'm not ready to go then get denied a year later for being unfaithful to the company. That would be very disappointing so I just want to make sure they won't knock me for that.

It doesn't work that way. They're looking for labor, not religious converts.

I don't think I'd tell the interviewer you're not interested in working there for another year unless she asks you straight out. If she knows this interview isn't going to result in you taking a job, she knows she's essentially wasting her time.

But I wouldn't worry about turning down an offer and reapplying in a year. If they like you the first time, odds are they will still like you a year from now. Good luck.

Edit: If you're interviewing for the CP, financial issues aren't necessarily a big concern. Your rent comes out of your paycheck and you'll make enough to live and have (a little) fun off of. Maybe you have other expenses, but if it's just a matter of wanting to save for a year, I don't think it's really necessary.

Just wanted to say thanks for your comments. They were helpful in my interview. I didn't mention that I'm looking into 2008. I do think that the interview went really well and now that I know what it is all about, I'll be even better at it next year.

I haven't compeletly ruled out the possibility of going this year. If I can get parental support (I don't have a car to move my stuff down there), financial assistance at my university taken care of (I have a renewable scholarship that I don't want to lose), and classes cleared by my advisor, it'd be good to go.

My mind's not compeletely set since I haven't been accepted yet. If I get accepted into the program, then I will do the neccessary meetings with my parents, financial aid office, and my advisor. However, my parent's are against the idea of me going this year so I really don't know at this point.

Either way, I love Disney and hope to work there someday! You both were very helpful! Thanks again!

Don't worry, I believe it says on the site that declining an offer cannot hurt youu if you try again later.

Like other people said, if you get an offer and decline it this time around, there is a very good possibility of getting another offer next semester since they liked you the first time around. I declined my first offer for Fall '03 then took it up for Spring '04. A year later I declined Spring '05 and then went for Summer Alumni '05.

This is true. I did a 2003 CP and thought about doing the fall 2006 one. I was talked into applying by the recruiter. I did the phone interview, got accepted and declined the internship (though I wanted to do it). I am applying again for fall 2007 and will be offered a position. The fact that I turned down the job last year has 0 influence on the decision of the recruiter.... remember: they WANT to hire you. It benefits the recruiting team to hire both quanity and quality. If you're good enough you'll be offered a role.
