Question: August?

Me and my girlfriend are planning a trip to Disney World that is set for August 15-21. Basically I've read in the books the estimated crowds for that time of year but I wanted to find out from someone personally what it will be like. I was there in July of this year, so compare it to that if possible.

We usually go in mid to late August and it is nowhere near as crowded as July as a lot of schools have started back already (though it's still full). It is hot, humid and rains just about every day though...Florida summers and all that

Back from WDW!Counting down to DLP in November!
We wnt in August last year and this past July, the crowds were no lighter in August really except there were ALOT less brazilian tour groups!!!

Weather was about the same heat wise, which i love as here in ireland we never get heat like it!! Although i found August weather to be a lot more temermental when it came to the rain, ALOT of rain in August and it rained 3 days out of 21 in July, for about 15 mins each time!!

August

For the past three year we have gone in august. The rates are cheaper and the crowds are a little lighter. BUT, it is hot and I would purchase insurance for the hurricanes. The past two years we were there and a threat was coming. Just take your time, enjoy the pools during the day, drink lots of water and bring ponchos. It does rain, normally once a day but for a short period.

Haha we must have been there at the same time cause all I saw were Brazilians when I was there. Thanks everybody. I'm sure the heat will be unbearable but I'm hoping for less crowds than July

I think that there is a difference in the crowd size between the first half of August and the last half. People start going back to school.

Good luck.
:)

(Never, ever, go to WDW in July)

My family and I went this past August, the 21-27 and I have to say it was the BEST! I am used to going to Disney in the summer and the crowds were sooooo much less than when I went in July. It is hot and humid and it rained every day but it's Florida...do people expect it to be cool in the summer? Schools in the south start school that week and it does affect the crowds. Love that time of year to go and will ALWAYS go at that time! Enjoy!:xmas:

The later in August the lighter the crowds. However the heat will be the same. As long as you're prepared for heat it's great. Go to parks EARLY, take an afternoon swim break and head back to parks at dinner time.

We were there from 8/6 - 8/16 and it was not crowded at all. We traditionaly go the last week in June and throughout July. We did not run into any tour groups. The longest wait for any ride was TSM 35 minutes and that was by choice as we collected a FP and then got into line so we could ride it 2 times while at DHS that day.
