I dont know if this is the right place to post this but me and my friend are having a debate about the character Pete and I need an answer. He is in alot of older cartoons and I think he was Goofy's boss Gooftroop She thinks that he is a cat but I think that he is a dog. Am I right is he a dog? And if I am right how can I prove it or should I admit defeat.

Below is a picture of Pete I really coundnt find a better one.

I don't know if he's a dog or a cat. I'm thinking dog tho. I thought he was Goofy's neighbor.

Thats what I thought but is there any way to prove it :brick:

Hmm....

Pete (also known by variations of his name, including Mighty Pete, Peg-Leg Pete, Bad Pete, Big Pete, Big Bad Pete, Black Pete and Peter Pete) is a fictional character from the Walt Disney Company studios. He is an anthropomorphic cat and is sometimes depicted with a peg leg, and known as the arch-nemesis of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. The comic book story "Mickey's Strange Mission" from Walt Disney's Comics & Stories #245 (1961, by Carl Fallberg and Paul Murry) gives Pete's full name as Percy P. Percival. Though usually associated with the Mickey Mouse universe, Pete appeared in Disney's animated cartoon series Alice Comedies before the first appearance of Mickey Mouse, and is Disney's oldest continuing character. He was a relatively obscure character until appearing as a regular character in the 1990s TV series Goof Troop. Though Pete is officially a cat, his feline appearance was later subdued and in Goof Troop and he resembled a dog like many other characters in the series.:sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

I guess he was a cat untill goof troop.

Officially, Pete is, and has always been, a cat. Note that even in his Goof Troop form, he has pointy, cat-like ears versus Goofy's long, dog-like ears.

As an aside, Pete is actually the oldest Disney character still in use today. He pre-dates Mickey by several years, as he was a featured villian in the Alice comedies. Once Mickey came along, he was a natural nemesis for Mickey--a cat versus a mouse.

I guess it makes sense but he just looks like a dog to me

I always thought the funny thing in Goof Troop was that Goofy (a dog) had a pet cat named Waffles, and Pete (a cat) had a pet dog named Chainsaw.

Can't be!!!
A Cat can never be the boss of a Dog.........Just can't be.

Cats are just evil :fork:
I think that was the point.

A cat plays the evil boss, which makes you like the dogs more. By completely seperating the villian into his own species, the viewer can create a strong dislike for them.
