Question about parks to avoid from touringplans

I checked touringplans.com crowd predictor and we're at a 4 pretty much our whole stay. But what does "parks to avoid" mean? I wish they'd give a number scale for each park.

It means that historically, certain parks have a tendency to be busier on certain days. Parks that have EMH will tend to be busier on that day. MK is also notorious for being busier on a Monday. Many people arrive on a Sunday and many of these people have a tendency to hit MK on their first full day.

If you are a 4 for most of your stay, you really don't have to worry too much about best parks versus parks to avoid. In fact, you have to interpret it a bit differently.

If you like to go to the parks when it is quite empty, then go to the best parks all the time. Remember, though, that Disney puts more entertainment on and more extensive parade details on days they expect to be more crowded.

touringplans is almost always right on with this. Some times I've ignored them during moderately busy times, and I was disappointed. We went to Epcot on a parks to avoid day and it was really crowded.

On the other hand, last trip, we went to AK on a best park day, and again on a parks to avoid day. We had a fantastic time on both days, but in certain ways the parks to avoid day was more fun. An empty park can be a bit drab, and the parade was much better on the busier day, and the whole park was just more lively and festive. Sure, the ride lines were longer on the big ticket rides, but they were short the last hour of the day on both days.

At Epcot, during the slow season, they might not have the street entertainment you are interested in on best park days, because they expect lower crowd levels. So if you are interested in that, check the entertainment schedule ahead of time before setting your plans in concrete.

Have a magical trip in any case!

It's a nice guideline to follow, but ultimately shouldn't dictate your stay. If you have park hoppers, feel free to utilize that feature to it's fullest extent! Though I agree fully with Yankspy about Monday's at MK, you can always try a park in the morning and then hop if it's too much for your liking crowd-wise. Also, EMH's are your friend when staying on property!

If you don't have park hoppers, you're still at Disney so it can't be all that bad. :D

I agree. PH can be a real blessing! King Stefan :king: offers a great explanation of the touringplans.com system.

Personally, I use touringplans.com as a refernce point but not as a trip planner.
