Ive heard from a uncle of mine that when they went(probobly about 5 or 6 years ago) that you could take a bus from old town to disney. We are about to go again(that is to disney) and he insists it is just as good as a disney resort because of this but i dont think they do anymore and maybe they never did but i dont know why he would lie. I went to there website and i didnt see anything about that. Can someone please help me????????

Possilbly, your uncle is talking about the now Old Days Suites, which is now called Old Town. This hotel does offer free transportation to Disney, if a guest. However, it is NOT as nice as any Disney property. Over the years my family has stayed there 2-3 times but never again. The establishment NEEDS a major overhaul and maintenance

There is Old Town itself in Kissimmee but I have never heard or seen a bus from there to Disney.

we used to always stay at Days Suites because of old town and the low price of a room with a coupon from one of the tourist brochures. Lower cost means lower class and it got really dirty and ratty.

Old Town is Florida's answer to South of the Border!

I wouldn't even been THAT nice about it....although if you are lost the big light on the one ride helps..unless you get lost near Universal and then the other one gets you REALLY lost....

Not old, just vintage.
A friend and her family booked the Suites at Old Town last year in an attempt to save some money and gain a larger room while still having transportation available.

They checked in the first night and promptly checked out the next morning. The room was bug infested, falling apart, and REALLY rundown. Ewwwwww. They checked out, vowed NEVER to return, and headed straight over to their "emergency" reservations at the All Star Music. I remember her frantic phone call from the Old Town hotel room that night...I felt so bad for her and her family, not to mention really grossed out.

If you really want to stay off property to save money, there are some MUCH, MUCH better motels that offer scheduled transportation to and from Disney.

Truthfully, with AAA, Pop Century is a REALLY good deal, you can get it for around 84 a night. In smalltown USA that's about the same price for a Holiday Inn.

We have stayed off property a couple times (not at this hotel) but I thought the transportation was awful. They all seem to have some type of transportation to all the local parks. The bad part about it is the schedules...maybe 2 or 3 drop offs in the morning and the same for pick up times in the evening. The times seem to be the same no matter what time of year it is, so sometimes you might be stuck for a long time after the park closes and other times the last bus may be before the park closes. Plus you are basically stuck at the park all day..no chance to go back to the pool or just chill in your room if its really hot in the middle of the day. I highly recommend staying on property-the value resorts are priced right and still give you all the Disney atmosphere:wave:

Quite a few off-site hotels offer free transport to the parks, they will however be limited schedules.

Best you check directly with the hotels (either via webistes or email) to see what the schedules are. If they fit in with your plans go for it. If you may find them too limiting either rent a car or stay on-site

We stayed at the Suites at Old Town just this past April. We had a very clean room. No bugs. We enjoyed it very much. Sure the place is a little run down but that place has been there a long time.

On our 3rd day, a marching band from TX with 6 buses pulled in. They kids were great. They were quiet, until they starting a practice. But we did not mind as 2 of my kids are in middle school marching band. They went out and watched them.

I think we would stay again. We went to West Gate for a TS meeting, they want $1,050 for 7 days, 16 days at the Suites. We paid around $48 a night.
I wish we could stay at WDW for that price.

Last year we stayed at Motel 6 across 192, behind McDonalds. It would have cost us more to stay at M6 with 2 rooms, then 1 room at S@OT.

I guess it just depends. We stayed in Building H

Yes, heed the good advice here! I for one have probably stayed at Old Town more times than anyone else on this forum. When we were kids, my mom always picked the Days Inn Suites (now called the suites at Old Town) because she loved Old Town. Well, that was a looong time ago. The place is really run down and Old Town has changed a lot. Quaint little shops have given way to bars and a whole lot of drinking down "Main Street". I don't know about daytime, but at nightime the place has totally lost the family appeal it once had, at least for me. We still go every now and then for the antique car show cause DH loves that but we never stay there. Heck, last time I stayed there I was about 20 years old so it was about 10 years ago and even then it was losing it's appeal.

It's not horrible, just not good. It's not a bad deal for what you pay but as you know, you get what you pay for. If you are on a tight budget, I'll be happy to help and give you suggestions depending on how much you want to spend. I've stayed at most hotels in the area so I know a thing or two. Of course, there is NOTHING like a Disney hotel and I usually opt to stay on property. However, the Gaylord Palms Resort can be VERY tempting when they have specials, the place is amazing!

Anyways, let me know if you need help finding a suitable place.
