Question about midday breaks

This is the first year we will be planning on taking breaks midday, we planned on it last year but because of Tropical Storm Fay we ended up leaving the parks early most days instead of leaving and coming back. So my question for those of you who take breaks, about which time do you leave and come back? I'm mainly thinking of MK because one of the days we are there I'd like to see the parade but it's at 3pm so right around the time we would be at our hotel. DHS and AK parades are not an issue because we are only doing 1 day each there, Epcot and MK we are there 2 days so those are the days we plan on breaking. We lucked out last year on the heat because of the storm but I know how August can be so I know we'll need those breaks this time around. Thanks in advance!

 That is one of my FAVORITES! I think everyone should stay for it. We went back to AK on our last, after already having seen this parade 2 days before, trip JUST to see it again. You need to go see it one day. :)

I second this... MJJP is my favorite daytime parade, hands down :sohappy:!!!

Now, for the topic at hand, we usually only take breaks during our mid summer trips when it's really really hot. Like many others, we usually have lunch in the park and leave afterwards (around 1pm), we take some time out at the resort and then go to a different park (usually around 4pm). Even when we don't go back to the resort for a break, we still almost always switch parks around 1-3pm. We drive so it makes this easier. I always feel refreshed when I hit the "new" park, for whatever reason.

I'll definitely try and catch it this trip! My DH is not much for parades. I can usually get in one and with the new celebration parade - I was going to reserve my parade time for that one. But i'll see if I can persuade him stay for Jungle Jammin'!

Thanks everyone for the responses! I am thinking if we go back to our resort at 1 until around 5 we should be good. Kids won't nap but I think a dip in the pool and just a little downtime will do them good. I had wanted to take a break a little later maybe like 3-7 but most of my ADR's I got were for 5:30, couldn't get any later. There will be no breaks for us during our days at AK and DHS so we'll definately get to see the Block Parade parade and the Jungle parade, we missed both last year and my kids were bummed.

It's funny the one thing that sold us on definately taking breaks in Disney was on this past Saturday we went to the National Zoo in DC. We go here at least twice a years but usually only for a couple hours at a time. Well on Saturday we were just having a great time, saw some fun stuff we'd never seen and time got away from us, 6 hours later my kids were ready to drop. It was really hot and we did not sit down and relax as much as we should have. By the time we left my 6 yr old was begging to leave. We do not want this to happen in Disney so we'll definately take it slow.
