Question about getting to Trails End

Hello everyone. I have a question I'm hoping you can help me with. My wife and I have a reservation at trail's end restaurant for breakfast at 7:35 a.m. Can you recommend the best way to get to the restaurant that early in the morning considering we are not staying at Fort Wilderness? . I know we can park at the front but will the internal FW buses be running early enough to get us there on time?

I would be tempted to park at Fort wilderness lodge and get the boat to the campground (takes 5 mins) and then the restaurant is about 50 meters away from where the boat lands

good question! I'm sorry I do not, might be worth dropping a line to the desk at either resort they should be able to give you s start time for the boat.

Theres also a cycle path that runs between the two along the shore, I'm not sure how long that walk would work out as, might be worth investigating too!

That path may be closed off now due to construction, not sure, but it would still be pretty far. Personally I would take the internal bus between the two as it goes back and forth pretty quickly without too long of a wait, but Im not sure when that one starts running in the morns.

The boats may be running depending on what time MK opens that day. That would put you in closer proximity to Trail's End than if you parked and had to take the internal shuttle.

When my wife and I tried Trail's End, we had a heck of a time getting there.....and if memory serves, didn't get there until about 10-15 minutes after our scheduled time. We had to go from our resort, to MK, to the ferry that goes over to Ft. Wilderness and then we made it there.

Internal buses run 7 am to 2am.

Blue route boats between Lodge, Campground, Contemporary run from 6:45 am to 11:30 pm daily.

Completely Disney's fault for not building Fort Wilderness 15 minutes closer to where you were staying. Poor planning when they laid the place out in the first place!

Actually we were staying at the Wilderness Lodge (didn't have our own vehicle at the time), which couldn't have been any closer to Ft. Wilderness.

From Wilderness Lodge there is no need to go to MK then take boat to Fort Wilderness, but it is a fun, scenic boat ride.

No you cannot take a taxi to Trails End. A taxi will drop you off inside the entrance of Ft. Wilderness and you must use an internal bus to get to the Settlement Depot, where Trails End is located.

There was when following the front desk CM's advice on the quickest way to get over to Ft Wilderness. (Maybe the launch to Ft Wilderness was delayed or something, I don't remember.) Still, it worked out......we got there, ate, were very underwhelmed by the food, and now know we have no need to go back.

Sorry you were underwhelmed by the food. It is a favorite of ours and we usually return every other trip or so. Good breakfast there too, but then I am pretty easy to please when it comes to breakfast.

Actually the food itself was ok, I guess we were simply underwhelmed by the experience itself. We decided to go based on a lot of rave reviews but found it pretty much equal to any of the other breakfast buffets we've been to around WDW.

It's definitely one of the best values at WDW (or rather, the closest you can come to a "value" at WDW, haha), and it's a good place to go to if you also want to spend some time at Fort Wilderness, like doing the campfire singalong. But if you're just going there to eat...yeah, it's not necessarily a trip worth taking.

If you were staying at Wilderness Lodge, unless someone in your party has/had mobility issues, you didn't really need to take any transportation, there's a walkway you can take to get to Fort Wilderness. Takes about 20 minutes. At last, it used to be there, with DVC construction, I don't know if it's still accessible.

We have biked and walked that pathway dozens of times. Hope DVC does not close it. Seems if anything, it could easily be rerouted on the Wilderness Lodge end if necessary for the new construction.

There is also a direct bus from the Lodge to the Fort and it drops off right by Trails End.
