Good Morning All!!!

The past 2 times I have gone to WDW I was a passholder but i booked MYW PAckages with a 1 day base ticket so we could enjoy all the inclusions of the package. I have 2 base tickets that were never used and I was wondering can i use the $ amt from those 2 base tickets towards the renewal of my pass?

Yes, you can!

I just did that in our December trip. My hubby is a passholder and I wanted to get the seasonal passes for the rest of us. We got the 1 day base ticket with our package so we could get the dining plan.

Here's where there was some confusion: when I booked the MYW w/dining the CM told me that the day we arrived before we went into a park to go to Guest Relations outside of a park and have the tix applied towards the purchase of the passes. When we got to Guest Relations the lady and all the other CMs in the office all agreed that if they tried to strip the MYW tickets from our room keys it would blow away our dining credits. They advised us to purchase the passes then return to Guest Relations on our final day prior to leaving to have the unused MYW tix credited back to my credit card. The CM made a note in the computer and gave me a sheet of paper to take with me to Guest Relations on the final day. Final day rolled around. Had I not been staying at the Contemporary on the monorail line it would have been more of an issue trying to get back to a park just to go to the Guest Relations desk. When I got there to get my refund on the MYW tix she was perplexed why we had done it this way. She said she stripped tix from MYW w/dining packages all the time without blowing away the dining credits. She stripped the tix from our room keys and credited my card back for them. We then took our room keys and used as many of our final dining credits as we could towards take-home snacks. That was proof-positive that the MYW tix can be stripped from a package without blowing the dining credits.

I imagine as with any large, complex system there are probably a dozen ways of doing any given thing. What it boils down to is experience and knowledge of the operator.

Have fun!

You can only use one ticket at a time towards your AP renewal or AP purchase. You can still get credit for both tickets, but it'll take you an extra year...

Sometimes I think trying to work out detailed transactions with CMs is like calling your cell phone provider. There are so many ways of doing things, rules, etc. that if you don't like an answer just call back. You're bound to get someone who gives you the answer you're looking for. :ROFLOL:

As someone who has gone through global training for guest relations I can tell you the official rule is that only the value of one unused ticket can be applied to another ticket type. Guest Relations cast members have the authority to make exceptions to the rules and can sometimes assist guests by bending them as long as they have a reasonable reason. If your tickets are unused you should be fine.

As for stripping dining credits that happens constantly. Many a guest has had serious problems with their room keys after they have been to guest relations to change thier tickets. The problem lies within the resort data processing and management system (used by resorts) and the Autamated Ticketing System (used by guest relations). They are both fairly complex systems and dont always agree. Sometimes it will work fine, and other times it will take all of your dining credits and possibly access to your room off of the cards... which means you have to go back to the resort... the resort has to call guest relations... and its just a mess to get your card back to you correctly...

In short its better to be safe by trying to work around it than not and being sorry!

Another suggestion if you'll be "extracting" a ticket off of a room key is to ask the Lobby Concierge desk at your hotel to do it. They'll then be able to give you back your room key and a separate park ticket. if they can do *that* without losing your Dining credits, then you're all set. (And if something gets messed up, you're right where you need to be to fix it)

Then, when you go to Guest Relations at the park to upgrade to an AP, it's a very simple transaction for them, as they can treat the ticket you give them like any other ticket.

Allthough im not sure that resorts always have paper tickets on hand... if they do that would work!
