Question about character greetings during Star Wars Weekends

Does each character have a separate line, or do you stand in one line and then get to meet multiple characters (like how the line for the Fairies and Princesses in Toontown works)?

It depends on the location. Some spots only have 1 character there (like Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Queen Amadala, ect). But then there are others that have multiple characters that rotate (like the VIPs, Anakin/Mace Windu, Shaak Ti/Kit Fitsco, Chewie/Ewok, Luke/Leia, ect). I think the only line that actually has more then one character out together is the Anakin line, and sometimes the VIP line. Otherwise they rotate the characters (take the VIP line- last summer it was Mickey and Minnie together. After about 20 minutes, they changed with Goofy. Then he changed with Donald, who changed back to Mickey and Minnie). So there is a chance the character you get in line for may not be the character you meet.

I hope this all makes sense.

And the lines can be long-very long at times. I would suggest getting in line before the character comes out. Last year the VIP's had a long line even before they came out and this was the start of the afternoon sets.

Do they have a set schedule that we will be able to follow? Our big goal at the studios is to ride TSM (again - new favorite ride last year). And my oldest and husband also will hit ToT and RnRR (but as there are 4 of us they will grab 2 fast passes for each of those while my youngest and I do something else). See the SW parade and meet the characters / get photo ops of the SW festivities. We will have a total of 4 days available to do all of this. So if they have schedules available it will help to plan our day.

They should but I don't know the character meet n greet times. Ask a character greeter and they should be able to help.

Last year was the first year I attended and I pretty much was going to get photos with the characters, so what I did was (don't judge me!) fly down a day before my family so I could spend the entire Friday getting photos and such, then the next day we did the events and waited for whatever characters my sister wanted to get.

It can be pretty time consuming. The only characters I saw switching in and out were the prequel Jedi and the Disney characters dressed as Star Wars characters. Everyone else seemed pretty much stoic all day, with the exception of breaks and such.
