Hi folks.Just a quick question.Friends of ours have booked a 2014 vacation at a moderate and have qualified for free QS dining plan..2 adults and 2 kids ( aged 7 & 9 )..This is their first time to WDW and asked me what's the best way to use the credits.? I told them that we pay outa pocket for breakfast ( we're not big early eaters ) and use the credits for lunch & dinner..So curious as ever, what meals would you use your QS credits on if you were there with two kids..Question 2.. Could the two kids split a adult combo credit and save child's credits for breakfast.? Typical Scots eh! Trying to save the $$$$$.

For QS, I'd just eat anywhere. There are some QS places that are better than others, but it really doesn't matter. Just eat when you want to eat at wherever is close at hand.

Yes, two kids can split an adult credit. I do this with the Turkey Leg every year. The kid and I get one before the 3p parade at least once a trip.

Cheers..I have gave them the top QS restaurants like CHH & SS but that's good to know about kids splitting an adult credit..;)

Eat breakfast in the room as it is the easiest thing to do and gives you the energy to get the day started, plus it's cheap. snacks for lunch or like another said, combine the two kids snack and get them an adult lunch to split, then you have your QS for dinner, which can be used at great places like Wolfgang Pucks to get pizza or meatloaf, plenty to split, or Earl of Sandwich, once again can be split. By the time you are done, the QS credits will add up and you can really have good food without the hefty price tag of table service. One has to do research to really know how to make it work for the best bang for the buck, so research menus, and remember some of the deluxe resorts have great QS, like Captain Cooks or Contempo Cafe, Gasparillas at GF.

When we use our CS credits, I do the same thing - out of pocket for breakfast and then CS for lunch (early around 11) and dinner (later around 7) and a snack mid afternoon. No my bestie went in January with her 4 girls and her DH. She had 3 paid in her plan for CS dining - on for her, her DH and her daughter. They shipped granola bars, other snacks and little cereal boxes with the diapers and formula before they arrived. When they dined - 1 baby on formula and then 3 kids and herself and her hubby, they were able to use the CS credits for all of them. 1 kids CS for 2 girls and 1 adult CS for mom and daughter and dad got his own. They spent very little out of pocket.

So, you can save CS credits by splitting meals. There are some HUGE portions depending where you go. For me, I could split an adult meal but my DH wants the whole thing (trying to work on him on this). If they split, say credits they used for lunch, then they could use them for breakfast and split the breakfast too.

With the QS system there is no difference between an "Adult Credit" or "Child Credit". They basically just have "4 people". They could have their kids split an adult meal at every meal and save credits that way to pay for breakfasts.

That's interesting. On page 2, Disney says that "Guests ages 3 - 9 must order from the children's menu".

Lots of QS places have Children's Menus. Cosmic Rays, ABC Commissary, list goes on. In fact, the only two places I can think of (I'm sure there are more) that don't have kid's menus are Fairfax Fare and the Turkey Leg stands.

Yes it does say that but the computer system doesn't recognize it, if you don't have kids standing next you you they have no way of knowing who the meals are for and many CMs don't care even if they are standing there from reports I have read. I guess it could be looked at as cheating the system.
