It would be unexcused absences. Maybe ask teachers for work to bring with you.Am I bad parent for pulling my kids from school for 6-7 days? They're in K and 1st. I'm getting some anxiety over this for some reason!
Guess I live in a great state. Family vacations are excused with prior notice given to school administrators, even in high school. It would be unexcused absences. Maybe ask teachers for work to bring with you.
No! I'm getting ready to do it for the 3rd time this December. I tell my kid that they have to have school work done before they go. Disney seems to be a pretty good motivator.Am I bad parent for pulling my kids from school for 6-7 days? They're in K and 1st. I'm getting some anxiety over this for some reason!

Exactly, family is more important than education. Glad we agree.I'll play devil's advocate and suggest that kids, even at that young age, are observant enough to internalize the implicit message you are sending about the relative importance of education.
In kindergarten? My four year old can't even keep what day of the week it is straight. With holidays, long weekends, regular weekends, etc., I doubt she'd even know she was "skipping" school if we didn't tell her.I disagree with actually exercising that particular right. Kids learn responsibility in many ways, and sticking to a school schedule is one of the best ways to teach it.
Yes, family is more important than education. Family responsibilities, that is. Family play time can wait. Kids at all ages watch and learn from their parents.Exactly, family is more important than education. Glad we agree.

Insert family ‘play time’ if you prefer. You’re not teaching them to disrespect education by teaching them to value family time. Discussing the importance of preparing for missed school work and including them in the preparations, are useful lessons as well.
