Okay so Colleen and I both LOVE the Haunted Mansion. I know it is not considered to be a romantic place by any means but I was thinking about asking there. Here is my plan...Its not solid yet or a 100% go but here is what im thinking...

We go to MNSSHP and I usually am the last guest to go on HM at midnight. I planned to ask one of the CMs around 9 oclock if we come back at midnight could they let us be the last two to go through for obvious reasons. Then after the lights go out in the portrait chamber I want to open the ring box, kneel down this way when they come back on she will look and see me and "it".

I know that that sceen has to do with a suicide and all that but I want to do something nobody has done, at a place we both love, and catch her totally off guard.

She knows I have a ring, and she knows that if I dont ask her before we go Ill do it there. So I have to get very UN-obvious and I think that would be the least obvious place and time for it.

I think the place is not so important as the question. If the HM is special to you and the somewhat dark symbolism is not a hinderance than I dont see a problem with it. That being said, I don't see a problem in doing what others have done too. The castle is a great back drop. It is more about the moment the two of you will share. I proposed to my wife with the castle as a back drop. When I was actually doing the proposing, all I saw was her and her smile. I could have been any where. What makes it nice is now we can go back there and remember that happy time. Congatulations. Whatever you do, I hope nothing but the best for both of you.

I say go for it. :sohappy: We were married in March at the Wedding Pavillion and the next day we had Magic Kingdom photos. We wanted somewhere else that was unique and fun and had our pictures taken outside the Haunted Mansion. They have been a hit so far with friends and family. We were the first couple that the photographer has ever photo at the Haunted Mansion. I would just go ahead and do it beings its a place you both enjoy. Congratulations early and Good Luck!!!

That sounds like a cool idea...Do whatever you think is special for both of you. You wi ll always rememeber the moment. You can also request a CM to stand behind somewhere a flash a pic at the right moment to capture it... ;) Also maybe Photopass person may help too.
I'm excited for you both.:animwink:

It's a good idea. The ride may seem kind of unimportant after being purposed to though. :)

I just honestly would ask them if we could exit after that opposed to keeping the CM's there longer than they need to be.

GREAT idea!!! Talk to a manager rather than a CM and I would highly suggest 'hiding' a photopass photographer for some professional photos!

Let us know how it goes!!

Aww I thnk that's a great idea...how sweet!
It's extra sweet that you want to do it at both your favorite attraction, even if it's dark and ghostly.
Good luck!

The HM is so special to me and my fiancee because it is the first ride that we went on after I proposed to her during Wishes (on a EMH night). Therefore, we love the ride. Having said that, it's not awfully romantic. Make sure she (truely) feels the same way about the HM as you do, or else it won't be as magical for her. But if she does really love the HM, then go for it!! :)

How sweet...I love it!

When I was at the Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party last year, a couple were having pictures taken on the side of the castle during the fireworks. The guy had it worked out with the CM's before hand. This way, they got beautiful pictures of the proposal.:xmas:
