The Magic King on opened in 1971. In 1982 a Epoct opened. In 1989 MGM Hollywood Studio opened. In 1994 Animal Kingdom opened. What has been done sine. Nothing. It is not only time to finish the planned expansion of Animal Kingdom but put in Cars land other attraction to DHS and finally update Epcot both in Future world and 23rd show Case. However we are also due a 5th Gate. This is the longer gap for a new park since WDW opened.. Even if a new gate were opened in 2021 it would be way past due.

Current management has neglected WDW and even though I love the Disney Springs upgrade and Magic Bands, Fast Pass plus and my Disney Experience and have faith in the company it is time to show all those on the East Coast the Disney cares about us. 5.8 billion in Shanghai, more in France, Hong Kong resorts and Paris, Florida has been neglected. Spend a few Billion here for major improvements and the bottom line will grow so fast you would be amazed.

I did mess up the date and park. DHS is 25 and AK would be almost 20 if hey started a new park now before it would be finished. That is way too long. As for what is news they are doing some upgrades but when I think about it no matter how happy I am with the stock I have to admit that Florida has been neglected.

AK opened in 1998. Since 1998..

Space Ranger Spin
Test Track
Rock 'n' roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
Magic Carpets of Aladdin
Tricera Top Spin
Primeval Whirl
Misson: SPACE
Mickey's PhilharMagic
Expedition Everest
Monster's Inc Laugh Floor
Soarin'
Toy Story Midway Mania
Under the Sea with the Little Mermaid
Seven Dwarfs Mine Ride

Just to name a few...

Yes, I agree there should be more, but it's inaccurate to say they have done nothing. New gates don't open on a schedule, they are opened as needed. Logically that rate has to slow down at some point since you don't have an unlimited customer base.

You had me, sort of, but then you got Animal Kingdom's opening year wrong and yes they have actually done things. Is it what many of us want? Nope. But that doesn't negate the fact they are spending money at Walt Disney World.

Now do they NEED to spend more and actually invest in EPCOT and Hollywood Studios? Um .... YES. A million times yes.

My problem with TDO is that they take away instead of simply adding. They cut entertainment and offerings, yet raise prices. Why am I paying nearly a hundred bucks to go into Hollywood Studios when in 2008 I was paying much less for the SAME attractions (just swap Narnia and Jack Sparrow). I mean, that's the real problem I have. Oh, they updated Star Tours. Which they pretty much had to do. I believe they'd be just fine with the same attraction that was there for over 20 years.

Epcot's added some restaurants. Whoop-de-doo. So why am I paying so much when there are now even less entertainment offerings than when I was paying a little bit lower of a price?

I know new Fantasyland isn't everyone's cup of tea but at least I can be somewhat OK with the Magic Kingdom's price tag. (Although to be fair, Dwarfs Mine replaced 20,000 Leagues and Mermaid replaced Snow White's Scary Adventure so again it's a case of take one give one.)

That's another problem I have.

I know some are going to say "well don't go" or "don't pay this and that" but I still love the parks and appreciate what IS there and I see the endless potential they all have for true greatness. The parks need to be taken to that next level of "wow". That doesn't mean gutting old attractions "just because" and throwing in some figures and calling it a day.

And there's no way I'd be OK with a fifth gate before they TRULY invest in DHS and EPCOT.

And I'd like to point out the last actual ADDITION (which removed Food Rocks/Kitchen Kabaret) to EPCOT was what, Soarin' 9 years ago. The last actual addition to Animal Kingdom was Expedition Everest in 2006. We're on 8 years now and it will be another 3 years before Pandora opens. But to be fair they are added a very well themed addition to Harambe (yes it's just to house the Lion King show) but it's actually an ADDITION. And they've swapped out Tarzan Rocks with Nemo.

And DHS hasn't had an actual new ride since Toy Story Mania in 2008. We're going on 6 years this month for that.

Oh, and now isn't the Park Hopper option an ADD-ON for the tickets instead of being included? Another example.

I do applaud them for the Florida Resident Select Weekday pass. IMO a great deal, yes even with the blackout dates and parking ins't included, but to be fair, it would pay for itself in no time if I bought single day admission to the four parks.

To be fair, Disney really hasn't done anything to improve their park in the little known Russian state of Yeqrs. They opened the Magic King (originally named the Magic Tsar) there and have nearly left it to rot since it's grand opening ceremony and bear wrestling tournament.

There is no reason given all the tourists in Orlando and the local population that Disney could not draw 200,000, people a day to their parks by 2021 if they took proper steps and upgrade as I said and built a 5th gate. The are currently 50,000 hotel and timeshare units that do or will have access to the internal Disney road system. Orange Lake will have access once Flamingo Crossing is built. That is how I count 50,000. But Flamingo Crossing is supposed to add 5000 to that. Now if Disney build more hotel and DVC'S the number will be higher. Also there is no reason they can't get those on property to send another day of their vacation on property rather than go to Universal. Disney needs to grow WDW to maximize it's profits. The time has come. They have invested in the technology to make it happen now all that is needed is the last step.

I don't know. I do think certain points are being glossed over in order to make fun of the OP but it is what it is.

I personally left out the Magic Kingdom and Downtown Disney because they ARE spending money there and doing improvements. Much needed improvements even if some aren't thrilled by them.

Doesn't negate the fact that they rested on their laurels for years.

I give them credit where credit is due but they should still be held accountable for not investing in their parks for years on end. Though if I were in their shoes, I can absolutely see why they didn't.

And if you count all the parks and DTD as a whole, then yes in the last few years they have finally started spending money (DVC, IMO, is it's own cash cow and I separate that from the resort as a whole).

I also am aware that just because they didn't actually do much in the parks that doesn't mean behind the scenes they weren't spending money on research and development, etc. I get that. I'm also aware most of the comments weren't at all directed towards me ;)

It's funny, some complain but when others do they should suck it up and not complain? I think this could be a good discussion but it's already off to the usual start.
