Professional Internships

I keep going back and forth on if I should wait or just finish it now. My school has made things very difficult for me, so I just want to be completely down as soon as possible. Can I ask what reason recruiters give for telling people not to go straight into their MBAs, it seems like some people say do it and others say wait.

They say you are more marketable with an MBA after you have had work experience. When you apply for jobs right out of school with an MBA you are expected to earn more, but many feel you have justified your right to that because you don't have real working experience. It makes sense though, and since a lot of different companies told me that I decided to hold off a couple of years.

Right now my ultimate goal is to work for Disney after graduation and after 2 or 3 years I will do a program in FL at either UF, UCF, or maybe even Rollins.

Ya that does make sense. I was looking at the MBA programs at UCF to get an idea, in case I decided to not do my MBA here. I never thought it would be this confusing to try and figure out what I wanted to do. I just figured, I would do the 5 yr program, graduate and move to Florida, now I keep questioning what I should do all the time.

Interview Review

I had my interview for the Labor Ops Time Team today.

First they talked a little about the department and then asked me to talk a little about myself. They asked me my career goal. I told them it was to be Vice President of Epcot.

They asked about a time I had to prioritize, use persuasion, and deal with conflict.

Then it got a little technical. They asked me about my computer science skills. They asked about ASP.net and Sharepoint, which I had no idea what it was and then they asked me about my "Demonstrated Proficency in Microsoft Office."

They asked a couple of technical things about office that I didn't really know and asked me what language macros were written in (?). Apparently it's visual basic for applications.

We concluded by their asking me about any mistakes i've made and why I would be the perfect candidate for the job.

I asked a couple questions and then it was over.

Now we wait.

A friend of mine just had his first PI phone interview today...sounds like quite the nerve-wrecking process. Best of luck to you all!

When I had my interview, it was very laid back and informal. I guess it all depends on who you are dealing with.

As far as Sharepoint and some of the other items are concerned, I've come to know them *very* well. ;)

Good luck to everyone!

Just to keep everyone updated.... after days of worry I got my call today for my Operations Management Interview. It's Wednesday morning at 8:40.

The cast member said there would be 5 GSM's there MK, EC, DHS, DAK, and DtD.

plus she (the recruiter) drops in on a few "special" ones.

Here's to a magical interview....

Good Luck! I have my interview with them right before you at 8:20. did she tell you when they wanted their hiring to be done? she told me April 4th but I have interviews April 7th and 8th so I don't know what I'll do if I get offered a position with them! I'm excited to finally have my second interviews! its been way to long since my first interview! 2 months to the day of my second interview to be exact! Again good luck!

Just had my second interview for Ops Management. I think it went really well, but I'm not trying to get too confident.

7 questions

1) Tell us about yourself
2) Why do you want to be an ops manager
3) What motivates you?
4) Tell us about a time you worked in a diverse team
5) Tell us about a time you worked to make change
6) Tell us about a time you were unable to make a deadline
7) What do you hope to gain from this internship?

I asked a few questions and then it was over.

Does anyone have Dawn Kidd's email? I wanted to send a thank you note and can't find it anywhere on the HUB.

PM me if you do

Not what I expected

Hey, all. My interview with DLC last Wednesday went great, and I received an offer from them yesterday. However, the pay is not what I expected. I have another interview today, but I have to make a decision on DLC by tomorrow. Since I'm coming from Texas, I'm not sure that it's enough to live on. Please feel free to offer input.

Are all the internships less than $11 an hour except Management Ops?:shrug:

In the screening interview they are very clear.

It's $8-$11 per hour depending on your role and $615/week for management only. Of course this is all before taxes

In my screening interview, I was told that the internships range from $7-13. I figured there would be some that in the $10-$13 range, but maybe not.
