Problems

o I created this thread to discuss the problems at Disney. A lot of topics in one thread but I figured it would be easier than to create many of them. And sorry for lack of proof reading or organization. I lack concentration when I'm on here.

Few problems. We went through four sets of keys before our room key finally worked at AK Lodge. The new system absolutely is stupid. Makes it wicked easy to steal or go through the line in the park while the cast member teach you to use the system. Lines take forever because no one knows how to use it and cast members give up trying.

The Star Wars parade route is dumb. Honestly, to go the the stage and back to the front of the park. You think that with Star Wars being popular the parade route would go to Star Tours. Could barely see anything considering we were so far back (near the Studios sign near the Hat plaza). The Hoopla was surprisingly hilarious though.

New FantasyLand is a waste. The Little Mermaid ride was better than I expected. Not great because it could use a few more scenes and less animation. Other than that New Fantasyland falls flat. I understand Princesses are Disney's cash cow but enough with it. Test Track is god awful. It went from being one of my favorite rides to being a ride I will never go on again. Too much interaction that doesn't work and Tron like. Storybook is nice for the kiddies.

Hard to believe Epcot is my favorite park but I hate Living Seas (except Crush), Test Track, Mexico ride, the countries movies. Energy, SpaceShip Earth (the part where you go backwards is stupid) could use an update. AK is my second favorite park but it doesn't have enough rides and I'm afraid for Avatar. A lot of rides needs updating or re-tweaking in all the especially Downtown Disney. Pleasure Island is still up after 10 or so years! Merchandising needs help in so many ways.

I'm kind of disappointed on the beverages in the parks. All soda and water. Nothing else. I don't drink soda or Dasani because of salt and there is nothing for people except the light lemonade crap. With that being said, the food is wonderful. I also don't like p**s beer (Bud, Coors, Corona, Miller) but we won't get into that.

Sorry for my negative post but Disney is still wonderful Disney at times. But Disney won't be taking my money much longer if this trend continues (not that it matters anyway). There's also needs to be better transportation. I'm sure Disney would love to save money rather than having buses going around the property with nobody in them.

I'll be the first to sorrily say this topic will bubble burst and probably die. we are going to end up with 10 different conversations overlapping one another as we talk about issues.

that said I think we all know what teh biggest problem is in disney world, that's right everybody I have heard your cries and agree. I too find the total lack of Bon Jovi in the parks to be inexcusable.

Debbie Downer herself couldn't have come up with this thread. I'm not someone that thinks everything is perfect at Disney, but I will never understand how people come back with so many negative things.

I agree! I come on these threads and hear these comments and think "Wow! I wonder if I'm going to feel that way when I go on my trip?" Every single time I go I just have the best time - I don't see any of the stuff that people post about on here; or if I do, it's so minimal compared to all of the amazing things that although I notice it, it doesn't phase me. Bottom line, it's expensive - no, strike that - it's VERY expensive to go to DIsney. If isn't magical for you, why in the world are you going? Spend your money elsewhere!

oh wow after seeing other peoples posts I figured I'd actually read these complaints.

1. the keys are an intermediate to the bands, your complaining about something we all know is leaving with the old cards. us the new readers allow for hands free unlocking in rooms which makes life easier. and now with gate less entry at parks we can move two people in at once , it also makes it more open and so we don't need to seperate families for strollers and the like. it made purchasing food easier too. I never once saw any massive backup. I also didn't see any cast member giving up, I think most people easily can grasp this concept, if you weren't sure you watch the person in front of you for the three seconds and theres the beginning middle and end of that learning process. I dont know how you went through four keys but I guarantee that is not the common experience.

2. I don't get what the problem was with the parade outside you didnt get there early and so you didn't see as well as you wanted. you need a certain amount of space for the routes an you also need to be able to put them somewhere there's only
so much space behind the scenes to deal with keep in mind.

3. new fantasyland is nowhere near done, again you are giving verdicts on things that don't exist yet. and since when did test track move to new fantasyland?

4. in this paragraph you just run through rides you do and don't like and your favorite parks, no "problems" are being presented.

5. you are simply wrong. you can find things besides soda and bottles of water in every park. there are also many other alcoholic items sold besides the beers you have listed.

6. you touched on transportation, saying the need better transportation. they have better transportation. you can rent a car or get a taxi and go where you want, you just pay for it. better transportation exists we just CHOOSE to use the free option, most likely because it's free. if your complaint was that at the end of the night the monorails stink and that PART of the system is a problem I back you up 100 percent. but as a free service with as many guests as Disney has using it, the system works better than most cities.

in general you mention all these "problems" with the cure being "they should be better" but without mentioning how it can be accomplished, outside the parade should go to str tours and find a way to make the space wider and get a secret path behind it for the parade to move behind the scenes. none of us know what "better" means because it's a subjective term that is applied differently by all. If everything had a picture of Bon Jovi on it it would be better to me. is that what you are suggesting is the answer?

A couple of things:

A. This Thread almost seems like a satirical critique on several of the critiques on this very website. If so, bravo.
B. If this Thread was not done as satire, then it lacks a great deal of constructive criticism. ie. "this is rubbish, so here is a possible alternative".
C. Everyone has opinions, but saying that a ride or attraction is disliked does not mean others will feel the same way and equals a "problem". I myself do not enjoy Duffy and consistently joke about how "Duffy never did anything to pay his dues. He wasn't starring in feature films, or other media and was simply packaged to kids as Mickey's teddy so they should buy him". Of course, however, that doesn't mean it is necessarily a problem because others may enjoy him.

I felt the same way, I hadn't been to Epcot in a few years before my last trip and I thought it was going to be awful when I got there. It ended up being great, the rides were fun and the park was clean. I also agree that if I didn't love it as much as I do I definitely wouldn't spend thousands of dollars to go there.

I've got a feeling the OP isn't bright enough to know what satire means.

(the part where you go backwards is stupid)
I guess anything is better than when it was first introduced! You just went backwards in the dark- nothing! Now that was "stupid".;) I agree- updating once again is a necessity. It was always kinda neat to see your picture when off the ride, but the CM told me sometimes it comes up, sometimes it doesn't.:( Also, many times, my screen never worked.:( A good refurb would be nice.:)

I think it's time to go elsewhere such as Uni ( oh- i can't believe I just said that) or Sea World. Perhaps Bush Gardens Tampa or even Legoland ( ew).;)Disney brings smiles to everyone ( well most everyone). My sister in law is one that does not like Disney ( to each his own).;) I have found the parks to be clean and my resort room has always been nearly perfect. I can never go wrong at Disney.:) That's just me though. I feel safe and comfortable there. It's my happy place, despite it not being "perfect". But, no place is "perfect".;)

Yay for grumpy people!!!

Sir, You should feel fortunate that you have beer to complain about in a Disney park.
The pavilions have a wide variety of beer to sample.

I'm sorry you feel so poorly about the parks. Try to find the positive side of things- it will make you feel better! :)
