Problems running the game?

If you are having any problems running the game, ask here.

The game requires Shockwave, if not already installed on your PC, or does not install automatically, it can be manually downloaded from
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/

It is best advised to close other applications whilst you are playing the game, as it is processor demanding, and other applications running may slow down the game.

LOts of bugs

I have noticed a couple of bugs in the game.

About half the time the ball will bounce aa good deal above one of the triangle bumbers instead of the bumper itself.

someimte in the middle of the two trangle bumpers and above the two flippers it bounces off soemthing there but there is nothing to bounce off off in that spot.

The ball went through my flipper once too.

Figured ID point them, out

These are problems we havnt seen on our test machines.
Can you tell me your processor type/speed, web browser type, version of shockwave?

Thanks

Sorry to say I've had a few of these problems as well.
I'm on MSN Explorer, version 9.20.0029.3000 on a HP running windows XP (Not Service Pack 2), unsure about my shockwave...

As with most games, the pinball is highly dependent on the speed of the system it runs on. If for whatever reason, the processor has to do another task while the game is running, there is the possibility of some inconsistent results.

Try to make sure you close any other running programs that you have running. Also make sure you have the latest version of Shockwave installed.

We've tested the game extensively on PCs dating back from 3 years to present. Those processors (without other programs running) have been fine, and havnt shown any problems to the extent you have described.

Seems to freeze up with Safari. I'm on a brand new iMac G5 (running OSX Tiger) with essentially zero CPU activity prior to launching Safari (v. 2.0.4) and opening the game. Still, I'm getting the "system too slow" message after about a minute of playing (though, even with the game playing, the activity monitor shows loads of processing capacity available). Also have current version of Shockwave (v. 10.1.1.016 for Mac OSX). All of which makes me think it's Safari.

I don't run IE so unfortunately I didn't test it with IE to isolate Safari as the problem. Anyway, just figured I'd let you know.

seems to be a program problem

I have a pentium 4 3ghz 1 gig of ram.

latest version of flash .

The main problem I am having with the game is in a lot of circumstances there is very unnatural movement of the ball .

example the flipper will hit the ball the bal goes up stops for no reason then falls again.

Had a chance to goof around with it using the current version of Firefox. Still getting a freeze up of the game with the false "system running too slow" message. Oh well.

I keep getting the "system running too slow" message as well. And it only happens when I'm doing really well on a particular game!

Since you said we only needed to save once per session, I didn't save after a particulary good game, and I kept going. Then a few games later, I got the system running too slow message, and I lost my 80 something thousand score because now there was no way to save! Maybe there is something you could do, so that even if we do get that message, everything before it isn't lost?

I am running Window's XP with all service packs and current updates installed, on a four year old computer, Internet Exporer, and the current version of shockwave. I did not have any other programs running at the time. Didn't know if any of that info would help you.

I don't want to sound like I'm complaining or anything, I understand that this is a free contest that you are doing out of the goodness of your heart, and I'm glad it's available, but since you asked if there were any problems, I thought I'd let you know.
Thank you!

I think there was a rather interesting glitch in the game a couple of days ago...

After I moved up from the bronze ball, the game somehow skipped the silver one and went straight to gold, including 4x point values on all targets. (Mind you, I messed up big-time on that particular game, and only made it to 800000. :brick: )

Just curious if this has happened to anyone else?

P.S. There's always next week for my pass... Rinx beat me by about 3.5x my score.

I've had the ball go thru the flipper (just happened, actually), targets not register that they've been hit (could be just they are picky about the exact location of the hit), and several times I've gotten a pop-up window saying there's been a problem and the game needs to be reloaded.

UPDATE: I've had quite a few balls go thru the flippers, and at least two occasions where the ball has gone down the middle, in spite of the 'saver' being here.

NO problems with slowness.

IE 7 beta 3
Latest Shockwave Player
WinXP SP2, fully patched
Pentium M, 1GB RAM

Yeah, what is with the "saver"? It's the little gray dot in between the two flippers, right? Does it appear after you hit a certain point value? I noticed it before, but wasn't sure what it is.

Yes, that's the "saver". It appears if you hit the S:zipit:.

I frequently get this message in the middle of the game, and it shuts the game down and does not let you save your score. Today, I was up to 500,000 and I got it again:

"This shockwave movie has errors that have caused playback problems. Please contact the author of this content regarding this problem. Shockwave is unable to continue."

Did you try downloading the latest version of Shockwave?
