We just finished our vacation at WDW it was great except for DHS. We were hot wanted to use our snacks on dinning plan for ice cream. Our first stop they were closed. Second stop the scanner didn't work and the third stop the scanner didn't work. My wife was extremely angry. Finally found one!!! At Epcot wanted a snack the scanner didn't work but this time the cast memeber typed in the number from the back of our magic band thank God for smart cast members! We also noticed that DHS needs a great deal of improvement nothings changed in 6 yrs. The star wars souveniers are also very cheap looking no creative mickey ears! But the good always out weights the bad. We enjoyed our vacation! Hope this helps someone else if the scanner dosen't work.

Every cast member is supposed to know how to handle a situation like this -- I was at the parks this past week as well and probably the same day you experienced the outage at DHS -- the entire system was down all morning at all restaurants, kiosks, and everywhere else except for Starbucks, which has its own system. Again, though, every single cast member should know how to get your ID number. Personally, I would pull out my wallet and pay with cash and use your snack allotment elsewhere...why make a bad situation even worse?

I've skipped DHS the past year...until it gets its act together it's not getting any of my time or money. My last visit there I dealt with 150-180 minute waits for TSMM, Rock N Roller coaster went down numerous times, and while in line for ToT it went down twice on me. Not a fun day.

Last time I went to DHS, I had a great time. No breakdowns, FP for all the things we wanted, and perfect weather. Granted, it's still a half day park, but it's in a big transition. We'll just have to live with it for now.

I had considered shipping DHS on our trip this fall except for 1 thing.. No one who will be going with us had seen the Osborne lights.. So we will be going for that. No one in our group is particularly into thrill rides.. So rnrc and tt aren't draws for us..

If you bought a multi-day ticket or the Park Hopper option, it's already getting a share of your money.

Oh but it really isn't. I don't pay for parking there, I don't buy any food, and I don't buy any merch.

That's when I actually pay to visit. (Doesn't happen often...CM friends)

DHS is abysmal. So few attractions worth seeing if you have done it before. You can do everything by lunch time. By then lines for any ride are an hour long and simply not worth it. It is like I have said, they need a dozen more rides with no less than 8 of those family type rides.

Or you can take your vacation $$$ elsewhere. There are other parks in the market that have more than 5 rides.

I know that is blasphemous concept. But we don't have to "live with it".

Hmm well maybe fate is looking out for me when I visit. The park is still probably my least favorite, but we always enjoy the day. No breakdowns or anything...well I think Toy Story broke down once during our trip, but we were just about to get in line so we weren't caught in the middle. Everything else seemed fine other then it being insanely windy.

The idea of the magic bands supposedly removes the need for cash in the parks....which I never carry into the parks.

Most guests haven't done it time and time again like many of the people on this board. If you're skipping Mermaid, LMA, Animation Academy, Beauty and the Beast, Disney Junior, Indiana Jones, and Frozen, sure you can be in an out if the park by lunch time. But if those shows are new to you and you've only seen them once in your lifetime, your trip to DHS is going to be much more than RnRC, Tower, Star Tours, Toy Story, and done. It's not that DHS has too little, it's that you're skipping over half of it.

Yeah I have to say I'm really disappointed in DHS...

I don't even mind if it's not a working studio anymore, that's beyond theme park business imo. But they have watered down or completely taken away a lot of the "studio" elements of the park.

I LOVED the Backlot Studios Tour and I'm really bummed it's leaving. It started to suck when they scaled it down for Lights Motors Action but I still loved the American Film Institute Showcase at the end =(

I also really enjoyed the American Idol Experience. It was always different and interactive. It was a cool twist to make real people the stars of a show.

The Magic Of Disney Animation... well it hasn't been the same in years. Animation is such an important part of the whole company that I think they should re-vamp this and make it totally cool.

I also loved when they had the exhibits for popular movie sets/props that changed every so often (the Backstage Pass thing). They could totally bring that back and it wouldn't be hard bc the stuff is already made.

The Voyage Of The Little Mermaid either needs to be revamped (the DisneySeas show is awesome!) or just replaced. An inside Prince And The Frog show would be cute and give that great movie representation in the park. Also, Beauty And The Beast is cute but it's old (and not that great once you've seen the Broadway version). I'd love to see them put in a Tangled musical =)

I really love Rock N Roller Coaster, Toy Story Mania, Fantasmic, and Walt: One Man's Dream. I would love to see them expand Walt and add some new scenes to Fantasmic.
I would love a Tangled musical also. I loved the movie and the music. But that is another little girls thing, and Disney needs to represent boys, more than they do.
