Probably An Easy Question, But...

Hey folks,

I am about ready to book my December vacation through the Disney website, but just had a quick question.

If I book my vacation now and put a deposit down, then four months from now a special offer comes up...for example the "Stay four, get three free" deal. Can I switch to that offer, or any other offer without too much of a hassle?

I know this is kind of a "newbie" question, but I have never booked my own Disney vacation without the help of a travel agent. First time, yay!

Absolutely...that happened to us for this past trip. We had the Poly booked for 6 months, paying a little more than we had wanted to and the 4/3 deal came back around and we were able to take advantage of it!
They just cancel your original reservation and book you with the new one.

If you book a rack-rate package now and put down the $200 deposit, you can switch to a discounted package rate if one comes out (and your resort and room type are available, as mentioned above).

The same goes for a Room Only reservation where you put down the first night's deposit, and then switch to a discounted Room Only special offer.

The trouble comes when you switch from one type of reservation to the other (a Room Only to a package, or vice versa). In those instances, you have to cancel the original reservation and get a refund, and then book a new reservation under the discount. Room Only and Packages are handled in two different ways/systems, and there's no way for them to carry money over from one to the other.

There are also no penalties for doing this, as long as you are outside of the cancellation window of your original reservation (45 days for packages, 5 days for Room Only)
