Private Owned Condo(s) at Fort Wilderness?

OK here is an odd one for you.

We just returned from a quick 5 day at Wilderness Lodge Villas. Thursday we had lunch at Fort Wilderness and decided to take bus instead of boat back to Wilderness Lodge. Since it was only the four of us (drive and we three guests) we got to talking. Some how we got round to the rumors of the homes to be built on property and the driver said that just this morning (Thursday) they had been told the Tri-Cirlce D was being planned to move to the front of Ft Wilderness with the trail ride horses and the area where the Tri-Circle D currently is would be made into hi-rise condos. I disagreed with the drive thinking she meant the other private expansion rumors but she insisted it was meant for Ft Wilderness. She even used the term, "Celebration like..."

Please do not shoot the messenger and take into account the source. But it would seem the private home rumors (housing, condos, etc...) are running a muck.

:veryconfu

Sorry, I did a search on condos before posting and did not run across the Golden Oaks Thread. It would that is the really topic of our discussion with the driver.

To clear up this and any similar rumors --- Disney will NEVER allow private home ownership within its boundaries.

That's because any homeowner would be entitled to vote on elections in Disney's "government", Reedy Creek, and potentially remove company-friendly board members.

What about Golden Oaks, you ask?

Just like Celebration, that property has been de-annexed from Reedy Creek. Those residents will be citizens of unincorporated Orange County, not the City of Bay Lake (which is in RCID's jurisdiction).

Although Disney could theoretically de-annex an island of property in the middle of the resort, I would imagine there would possibly be some logistical challenges.

Golden Oaks, like Celebration, is on the outer border of Disney's property and could easily be absorbed by the adjacent county government.

There's going to come a point where the WDW area is saturated with places to stay and live.
Including the currently planned additions, it may be there already.
The attraction balloon is going to develop a leak at some time.
Even WDW cannot provide infinite expansion as a destination.
