Private Message Problems....

GAAH!

Whenever I click either "Preview Message" or "Send Message" on a Private Message, for some odd reason Internet Explorer crashes citing mshtml.dll as causing the problem.

If I click on "Send", the private message does actually get sent (although the successful send page doesn't get displayed) but then IE immediately crashes, yet I have no problem with normal forum posts.

Does anyone else have this problem or know why this is happening - It's bloody annoying!!

mshtml.dll is part of Internet Explorers rendering engine (IIRC)

try looking through these articles:

and maybe re-install Internet Explorer....

... or this is a perfect time to ditch IE and move to Opera or Mozilla Firefox

I havnt seen this one before in relation to the forum. My best guess would be that you have a problem with your IE install, and certain features on the forum are exposing the problem. What version and OS are you using?

Thanks for the second link Dave, I knew I had Gator and read that it caused problems with mshtml.dll so used Ad-Aware (which I kept forgetting about) to remove it

And Steve, I feel stupid for not including that information in the first place, but the problem seems to be sorted now thanks

This is driving me insane.... but there is no way I can have my private message boxes clean. It keeps telling me I have 4 messages unread and I swear, I have read all my messages!! :hammer:

Why is this happenning? Since the new forums started, I´ve been having this problem. Help, pelase.... Thank you!

Since the new system was put into place, I have to check the box and hit "Mark as read" for that to go away. Does that help or is it still showing unread messages?

The PM system, whilst being improved in some areas, does seem to have a few issues with the unread messages. I will have a look into it in detail.

Thank you Erika and Steve. I don´t know how, but I deleted one message not so long ago, and the 4 unread ones I supposedly had, turned into 0 unread messages! :hammer:

So, somehow, my problem is over.... until the next new messages... lol
