Ariel reminds me of Tiffani Thiessen
Rapunzel reminds me of Amanda Michalka
Cinderella reminds me of a young Jennie Garth

It baffles me that decades old characters deeply engrained in our culture need to be re-worked as though their traditional appearance had really been holding them back all these years. How far should they go? Should the films be re-released with the new made over princesses so today's audience can relate to the character? Should a new scene be added where Prince Charming sends out a twitter blast asking for the whereabouts of the glass slipper's owner? I am not sure today's youth can relate to going door to door... I would think that any tweaks to the park representation of the princesses would be to further refine the animation to real life transposition rather than redefine it. Their time-specific appearance is what makes them time-less. Homogenization really just strips their individual identity and instead of having a favorite princess, kids just like "the princesses". It's a shame that marketing them as one product rather than individual entities has resulted in a re-branding of something which should be static.

They didn't really specify but will Belle's new hair also debut at CADCT and Fantasmic when the change occurs? What about her hair in BATB Live on Stage? I'm also guessing nothing will happen to her village look right?

So the added make up... lighted some of their skin, added shadowing around the bust on some. Mulan looks like a completely different character. Mulan would have never worn so much make up. Cinderella went from a classic Grace Kelly like beauty to looking similar to one of the "girls next door". I agree, the changes are individually subtle, but when you put them all together some equal big change.
I think the added dimension and silly 'sparkles' to the characters takes away from the integrity of their original and classic image. And I hate it. Cinderella looks like she's being redesigned to be a Bratz doll or something.

the only thing they need to do is stop making the kids dresses out of the cheapest, itchiest, scratchiest fabric known to man. $70 a dress, and they can't make it out of a nice smooth fabric? Instead, they change everything on the princesses, and make the dresses cheaper and more full of itch! The new dresses for kids are awful.

I had a Belle dress as a kid (I'd say 14 years ago or so? I'm almost 20 now!) and it was decent but the crinoline lining was the worst. I have to admit that they have gone in a downward spiral since then, and mine wasn't anything worth complaining about since these are much worse. When I have kids I plan on learning to sew and make patterns so that they can have high quality costumes (that probably are not much more expensive than $70)

AND the Glitter! Dear God the glitter is insane!

I think the new looks appear way better in person when compared with the cartoon renderings. I for one was completely against them until I saw Cindy and Belle in person. The hairstyles aren't amazing but the dresses NEEDED some TLC badly.

+1! My DD has 3-4 dresses but she can't wear any of them for more than 10 minutes without a long sleeve undershirt cause they itch her like crazy.
