Leia is a Disney princess technically, but should not be compared with Cinderella or Snow White. Ever.
Right, She's much more like Mulan.

Leia is whatever definition that they decide to give her. Seriously, folks what possible difference does any of this make. It seems like Disney (new owner of the IP) says that she is no longer a princess. So, that is what she is or isn't in this case. As for the person that thinks that those names were made up by Disney... OK, I guess you don't get out much or read or deal with cultural stuff like that. Even if you could cast a shadow on the Cinderella, Snow White etc. origins, Pocahontas is an actual historical reality. Now over the years I'm sure the story of her importance has expanded to fill imaginations everywhere, but, Disney almost always created, modified and molded their stories around pre-existing stories or in other words someone elses original idea.

Addressing the face meet and greet things... What era of Leia would they need to represent. The young Leia or the older Leia. Most younger kids today have no long range memories of the young Leia, but, now are being exposed to the Leia the elder. I guess that the hair style is much more memorable then the character in most cases so the young, as usual, would win out.

I want to confess that I stand corrected. I did a little further research on the subject.

I read that the princesses for the most part do have a long standing history of existing prior to Walt Disney.

I have learned that Walt did use the idea of the characters to create his own story and it grew from there.

That being said.....Disney has their own princesses that are promoted as such because Disney gave them life in cartoons and stage. (Not to mention Disney products)

Taking an established princess and making her you own isn't the same.

She is a Princess to me, I dont care if its official or not. She should be a Disney Legend for sure along with Harrison Ford, Mark Hamil and Peter Mayhew. Hell they should name Angela Landsberry and Julie Andrews Disney legends in my book. But WTH do I know.

I think that the are already listed as Disney legends. Not sure, perhaps someone can confirm that.
