Walt Disney Pictures has moved the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time out of its June 19, 2009 release date spot (which would have been a week before Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is opening) and has pushed it back almost a year to May 28, 2010, which is the week after Shrek Goes Fourth is scheduled and a week before Marvel Studios' Thor.

With Memorial Day being observed on May 31, 2010, the movie would have a four day opening, unless it debuts earlier in the week.

The Mike Newell-directed video game adaptation stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Alfred Molina and Ben Kingsley. Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

Darn! I was looking forward to this one. Jerry Bruckheimer hasn't let Disney down yet. Not sure which year would be a more challenging market, but with TR2N supposedly being released in Summer 2010 and with Persia filming which began earlier this month, it is suprising to pick a date that far off. Disney must of thought it didn't stand a chance opening a week after Transformers.

According to imdb.com, filming for prince of persia has moved to london. Sorry about digging up an old topic. But I thought I would just give a little update. I can't wait for this movie. It sounds like it will be good.

Update

Just a little update on Prince of Persia. Entertainment Tonight had an "exclusive" interview with Jake G on the set of the movie, which is shooting right now on 007 stage at Pinewood Studios in London. The interview sheads some light on some aspects of the movie, such as mentioning the Parkour and acrobatics that will be in the movie. The video shows some of the filming and shows Jake in costume. It also shows that his long hair is real, not a wig.:ROFLOL: There's also a word from Jerry Bruckhiemer in there as well.

This thread has come back from the dead to bring this update on Prince of Persia: The Sands The Time. Some footage was shown in an interview with Jerry Bruchhiemer on ABC. Check it out.

Its been said that some of the footage shown may be part of an unfinished trailer for the film. Still it gives a pretty good indication of the visual style of the film.
