Well in my opinion even though Animal Kingdom was in desperate need of more rides especially for the younger set , instead of rushing into it , they should have took their time and opened up Beastly kingdom or austrailia . Im not saying i wont go onthe ride in may when i go , but its not top priority. :D

I complained to Walt Disney about this ride because it goes totally against Walt's vision...

This is a quote that I got from a book of Walt's quotes (which I purchased in Walt Disney World...actually)

"A word may be said in regard to the concept and conduct of Disneyland's
operational tone. Although various sections will have the fun and flavor of
a carnival or amusement park, there will be none of the 'pitches,' game
wheels, sharp practices, and devices designed to milk the visitor's
pocketbook." -Walt Disney

Can anyone else tell me how DinoRama fits in to this vision?

they are passing it off as being a "theme"...i guess by delibratly making it a "cheesy carnival" and referring to it as "Din-o-rama" they can get away with it....

I believe it said that "it won't have any pitches or games to empty the pocketbooks..."

Doesn't DinoRama have carny games that cost money on TOP of the admission price?

Yes they do and way over priced I might add!! I like the ride ideas, but I don't like the games at all.............with a couple of kids begging to do each one you can easily blow $20 or more in a short time!!

Are those about the only attractions in all the parks that you pay for seperately? (Apart from the shooting arcade in frontierland.)

So, just like Amity Fair outside of Naws at USF?

No, the Frontierland Shooting Gallery isn't the only "pay-per-play" attractions in WDW...Don't forget the little boats near the Jungle Cruise in Adventureland.

When I think of those games, I think of the people that run them and how they try to "hoax" you over to play them. Is this what we want in WDW??? I thought the whole reason to go to WDW was to "get away from the real world" and go to this fantasy place that is like no other...I believe all of the Six Flags parks have these games and I believe every "traveling carnival" has these...if I want to play these, I'll wait til the carnival comes to my town.

Do we get to put Michael Eisner in the dump tank??? That I'd pay for!!! Or better yet...how about throwing pies at the bigwigs???

WALT HATED THOSE PLACES!!! THAT'S WHY HE DID SOMETHING DIFFERENT!!!

For what it's worth, there is virtually no "selling" going on by the CM's in Dinorama. More like "would you like to play?" than what you get at a Fair.

That said, I really wish they had never been added to Dinoland.

I really like the theming of the Lost Continent at Islands of Adventure. But, as I pass the carnival games it virtually ruins the experience.

Carnival Games

When it comes to WDW discussions, Pleasure Island (and Downtown Disney) are often overlooked. Pleasure Island contains numerous "carnival" games. Basketball, Water-Squirters, Leaping-Frogs, Test-Your-Strength, you name it, it's there.

It has been my experience that these games are rarely, if ever, played by PI park guests. That may have something to do with the "adult" (18 and up) theme of the park. Although children are allowed in with parents, even most of them stay away from these games.

For some reason, though, the games are still there. This does not seem to fit the supply and demand reasoning of economics. Maybe people play those games 'between' the hundreds of times that I have passed by. Who knows.

I wouldn't even mind it if they had game stands set up to "theme" it as a carnival and have some of the "characters" playing the games and joking around and poking fun at carnivals (like the "actors" at the Studios). It would have provided some entertainment to that area without emptying the wallets and would have gone along with the theming.

What does everyone else think?
