You're either gonna like this ride or not. It depends how old you are and if you like carnival-like rides.

Exactly. I love this ride too, but I was also the kid who would ride the super-fast spinning rides at Cedar Point literally over 20 times in a row just loving it and not feeling the slightest bit queasy.

Ah, you guys are soo....soooo..... old. :ROFLOL: -jk- really, i have never met a kid/teenager who dislikes this ride. Keep it there, if you don't like it: Simple, don't go on it! It's a lot better than stitch, imagination, narnia, or better yet: Sounds Dangerous! It's not even recommended on the top 10 worsts of disney! It's a thrill ride, it's meant for teens and kids, simple as that.

I would rather do most of those other attractions than Primeval Whirl, but it's a matter of opinion.

Now to speak in generalities, because that never backfires on an internet message board: the opinions of kids/teenagers are typically bad. The connotation of the Disney name is quite negative amongst teenage males specifically that the consensus opinion of that demographic is almost irrelevant when evaluating the quality of an attraction or other Disney product.

Well, I guess I'd better keep my off it the next time I visit, seeing as it has some sort of age restriction........

First of all, if you consider PW a thrill ride, you need to go elsewhere and try some REAL thrill rides.

Second, regardless of who its meant for, it just isn't very good.

It's a thrill ride in as much as it's technically a Coaster. In some circles people regard Soarin' as a thrill ride. On their site, Disney actually has a classification, "Mild but Wild Thrills".

Now, not trying to call you out at all, but what do you consider a real thrill ride? I have one particular roller coaster in mind and I'd be interested to see if you agree.

The only two at WDW that I would even consider calling a true 'thrill' ride are ToT and EE. I guess RnRC can be because of the launch, but the rest of the ride is pretty tame.

As you're a Sox fan, I'm sure you've been on Superman at SFNE, thats a thrill ride. Kingda Ka, the other major rides at SFGA, and the rides out at CP. Stuff on that level is truly 'thrilling'. Heck, even Boulderdash at Lake Compounce would be a thrill ride.

The "connotation of the Disney name" is not negativie with me, and I'm a "teenage male." Also, just because kids/teenagers don't agree with your opinions doesn't mean that their opinions are "bad". Just saying.

I'd put RnRC in that category as well, but I'd also put rides like Dinosaur, Spiderman or Harry Potter in that category. Superman is a great coaster (it's been far too long, but I really dislike how Six Flags run their parks), but the most thrilling attraction I've been on is X2 at Six Flags Magic Mountain. That ride is absolutely insane.

It didn't take long. Here's the problem - people in general (not just teenagers) can't handle when they're put into a group be it based on race, age, religion, sexual orientation or whatever. Speaking in these generalities is immediately dismissed into a form of discrimination when it's rarely the intent.

I'm quite satisfied that you're intelligent enough to recognize that the connotation of the Disney name is not entirely true. I applaud your ability to separate yourself from the opinions of others that I have grouped in the same category as yourself.

With that in mind, I think the teenage male demographic is on the whole more interested in a thrilling ride than impressive theming. There are absolutely exceptions to this, but your average teenager would go with the thrills. That's all I was trying to say.

I'm a 13 year old male, and my opinions aren't bad. Just because I like a coaster... and the rest of what you've said doesn't make sense with the demographicities and deh evaulated quality of zee attraction.. O.O

Alright, let me tame this down: It's an opinion, it is a real thrill ride, you either like it or not, telling me what to do/like will not change my opinion on liking the ride or not, so you can either just reply like this: "I disagree, in my opinion I don't like carnival rides"

This is one of those rides, and park areas in general, that people have strong opinions about.

The same with "thrill" rides - it's all a matter of personal experience and individual comfort levels. I found this ride mildly entertaining, but my then 8 year old son found it terrifying because he was tossed around in the car. My husband doesn't tolerate spinning rides, but is fine with coasters.

So, as others have mentioned, different people have different opinions on what is a thrill ride, what is a "good" ride, and what is good theming. The ride fits in well with the theme, but many would argue that the theme itself is the problem.

But please keep the discussion polite, and let's not resort to rude comments when there is a difference of opinion.

FYI, Primeval Whirl is now listed as closed for refurb until Sept 14th...

Sheesh! They really just need to tear it down... When did it close? February? March?

EDIT: I see that it was January. Eight months? What the heck is taking them eight months to work on??!?!

sorry to anyone who is a fan but this tacky ride should go. i'm secretly hoping this means it will go the way of 20k, permanent refurb into demo. not that i'm saying 20k was bad and hopefully it wouldn't take them years and years to replace it with something since animal kingdom has so few rides as is.

the ride is ok until it starts spinning...
At which point it becomes downright hilarious. Especially if you unbalance the car---we've found the most success going lightest-to-heaviest, left-to-right.

As for thrills: most coaster aficionados would probably put this in the "worth a spin" category (pun intended). These Reverchon spinners are quite possibly the best of the wild mouse genre, thanks mostly to the crazy spinning, but there's a moment or two of mild airtime in there as well. Is it a big time coaster? Of course not. But, it's a fun little package.

It's not that the ride system bugs me at all, it's technically pretty fun to a certain extent. The issue is that it looks horribly tacky, bland, and out of place in an otherwise gorgeously-designed park. That goes for the entire area of dinorama, the carnival stuff is just horrid and should all go the way of the dinos they represent- extinction.

If you want to know how to do this type of ride right (or at least better), meaning well-themed, check Crush's Coaster in DL Paris. It mixes a dark ride with a mad mouse coaster.

The biggest issue here is what COULD have been- a family roller coaster ala something like Big Thunder. Going through an archeological dig site. THAT is what should have happened. What we got was a ride and entire area totally tacky and lacking any sort of decent theme to it. No offense to anyone who might like Dinorama though.

Perchance they're taking the extra time to upgrade back the original, for all the nostalgiacs out there?

Coming soon: parking lot.

Merchandise would skyrocket!
