Prime Time Cafe on the chopping block?

But why does that automatically mean it will be gone? Disney has in the past and can again "move" things to different locations.

But I love the location! It's so nice to stroll up along Echo Lake until you get there.

I don't think anyone under 70 relates to the 1950s era.

Between Nick At Nite and the films and shorts shown on MST3K, I relate to the 50s a bit, and I'm well under 70. WELL.

You might be under 70, but that hardly makes you "well"...

To be completely honest, I don't see a Star Wars "land" ever happening, maybe another star wars attraction, but I can't see a full land dedicated to it. What I also don't understand is, they could make a full park dedicated to Star Wars and no one would complain, but lets say they made a park based off Frozen everyone would complain...

So I guess anything 50's will have to go then if our new generation can't relate to it? That would mean Pop Century needs to change. I just don't get it. It's history! True... it won't fit into Star Wars Land, but is Disney actually going to get rid of everything NOT related to Star Wars? Is DHS just going to be ONLY a Star Wars park? If 50's Prime Time Cafe goes, I will not be too happy. There are way too many things being "demolished", and nothing is being replaced! I will not go to DHS after this year when I see Fantasmic! I need some real proof, not rumors, as to what Disney intends to do with DHS. Yep- that means less crowds, or one less family visiting DHS, and yes it's our choice, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see what they do with DHS. That's why after this year, we probably won't visit AK until Avatar Land is complete. So... I guess I could say the same for EPCOT with all of the rumors flying around about what changes are being made there ( besides the Frozen ride- bye Maelstrom:(). Don't get me wrong, I do like Frozen, but I do miss the classics. I wish there were some way to have both the new and the old be happy together, a little like MK. Sorry for the rant, I just can't believe they're considering more things to "get rid of" at DHS!:jawdrop::eek::arghh::banghead:

Great idea! That would be perfect. They already have one over there that looks very similar, Gertie would fit beautifully.

oh hells, here we go again. unlikely to be moved, because money. IF something was to be 'moved' they would scrap the original and build new. no sense to anyone saying something will be 'moved'

Wow, and they call ME grumpy? Seriously though, lighten up,it's called "dreaming", you should try it some time.
I think the intent was along the lines of dreaming and wishful thinking. In reality, you're probably right. Since it's been there so long and next to the water, it's probably not in a condition to be moved any way, and the money thing too. But, it would be a nice tribute considering the history of Gertie. Then again, it's really more a movie/animation industry hat tip than anything, so it wouldn't exactly retain the same meaning if moved to DHS.

No no no no. I will FREAK if they touch 50's Prime Time or Sci-Fi!
Those places are amazing and such good times. The lounge is also awesome at 50's. The 50's theme inside is incredibly done. I just turned 30 and can't get enough 50's themed anything. Amazing era.

Just because they are changing up the studios, it's still going to keep some of that "Hollywood" style. One Man's Dream, ToT, Animation Building, Movie Ride, etc and many themed gift shops I am sure will not be going anywhere. Remember, it's not becoming a Star Wars park.

Get rid of a buffet or less popular restaurant there and change it to a Star Wars theme, like Jabba or Ewoks. Or build a brand new restaurant. It will be interesting to see how they tackle the incoming changes to HS. Looks too confusing to me.

see how this goes... somebody blue-sky s that gertie is moving, then someone googles and finds the page, sees wdwmagic, takes it at face value and runs with it, to the groups that will print literally anything, and then we will all have to hear it again and again and again in park, facebook and other sites; it will eventually be reposted as fact by someone else on the main page.
EDIT::: sorry it has been a long, looong day and not an 'Early extra-magic hours epcot to EMH 0300 Mk day'

Just as a note...if they do go a Lucasfilms route instead of just Star Wars, theres another movie that section ties very well with.

American Graffiti.

Do you REALLY think that anybody in management today is going to green light an American Graffiti restaurant? We'll get a Mos Eisley or, less likely, an Middle Eastern (or Indian) restaurant themed to one of the Indy films.

I was born in the late 40's my brother was born in the 30's.. so I can relate to the 50's onward...music, pizza, first in our city, and yes....not so good hearing about drugs....thank God , we all escaped that decade , but we heard about it plenty on the news. The 60's were fun with drive inn's and we had a Shoney's Big Boy, it was a drive through, we drove round and round until, we could get a parking space, and have a "Big Boy" burger, they were really good back then...years went on, they became really bad...and the Big Boy, in Columbus, Ind. closed. So goes the new world.

I know this thread is aimed at 50's primetime, but I cant help but think (and worry) that this star wars character breakfast at SciFi is a test to be eventually added to scifi as an all day character meal (think tusker house, akershus etc) with a light theme overlay over to star wars. I really hope not, as it would take away a favorite for many and would be another loss of a regular afordable dining location to an overpriced character meal.

The Star Wars galaxy is a big place with many sights to see. It can't be entirely contained in Mad Libs: The Ride.
