Both…

But that will be defended as “normal inflation” by sycophants.

Cause your $150,000 house should cost $390,000 now and your $18,000 car is an easy $46,500
Lol you definitely don't live in NYC because yeah we sold my dad's 100k house in Queens for close to 800k.

I'm kidding but get your point though but do have a question. Is Disney by some decree only allowed to raise their prices according to inflation?? And yes the price if my Q5 damn sure did not increase with the rate of inflation.

Didn't you mention early this year that you have an upcoming trip or am I thinking of someone else?

800K in Queens? The same Queens in Eddie Murphy's Coming to America? One can get a newly built 4 bed 3 bath, pool, gated community on a golf course in parts of FL.

Certainly not…I’m not claiming it should be tied to simple Inflation…

I’m simply stating that those that claim it’s ONLY inflation are simply wrong. It’s a higher cost for relatively the same exact product now. The “value quotient” has gone down compared to other intervals over the last 50 years

New York real estate is overvalued and Florida is most often worthless…it’s bubble and bust.

Ask Liz when that house was purchased? I bet it was long before “markets” ran amok and stockbrokers and realtors started telling the buyer what they should pay…and not Vice versa

Way overvalued pricing and some buyers with even more net worth buy these homes at very high prices, then pay a group to tear down the home and build it from ground up.

Thirteen years without a recession/reset and it shows…

Prior to the last…the same thing on steroids was happening and when the real estate bubble burst, the US economy came within days…some say hours…of going nuclear meltdown

Moral of the story: don’t let the foxes guard the henhouse.

Very true, it was purchased in the 70s and nyc is another planet that never resembles reality, we considered keeping the house but no one is moving back. Even in my neck of the woods, Philly real estate has run amok.

It's a double edged sword, as many post we have equating Disney's prices to inflation we get equal numbers posting that Disney should be charging what said poster deems appropriate 😀. Or worse the proverbial "Walt wouldn't have done that" post.

I do wonder though if both places suffer from the same issue. People still want to be there so they'll play the price

Hey I have no issue with that, and have questioned many many poster who whine incessantly yet still go. I find most don't "vote" with their wallet, rather they give excuses as to "why" they still go and when you question why they don't vote with their wallet you get the classic, "I never said I hated it" or " if it wasn't for xyz I wouldn't be going" or my personal favorite, I go but I'm not spending anywhere near what I use to spend"

Lol is that a Jack and Jill went up the hill thing??
I wonder if part of why people complain but still go is they don't know anything else. It came up before in how few know other parks outside of Disney/Universal and their local park.

no, it's more like a healthy percentage of us refuse to sleep on makeshift tables covered with bright violet sheets wearing the exact same black Nikes

I wonder how many people who are here complaining about the price increases would not do the same exact thing in connection with a business that they owned if the demand allowed for such increases? We sure do appear to have a lot of philanthropists on this board.
And can one imagine if more merchandise was made stateside with higher labor costs ? One guarantee, the price will not be lower.

Not sure if this is allowed but Foxnews.com has an article out today discussing the pricing and lack of magic currently at Disney World. I know alot of people don't care for Fox but they have a pretty high viewership so I am sure Disney isn't thrilled with the article unless they subscribe to the "any publicity is good publicity" mantra.

$1650 on food for a 5 day trip? $330 a day on average? What were they eating?

When’s the last time you paid for a sit down meal for four at wdw?

A quick service one easily can run up to $80-$100 range in most locations…just saying
Never, as I am a solo guest (not by choice, I would love someone to share the vacation with me) However, I was there in March and because i had the dining credits I splurged and I would not have spent $82.50 a day on meals and snacks...just saying. If you choose to spend large amounts on food and drinks when it is not a necessity then please don't complain, the one thing you can economise on at Disney is the food and drink, bring your own beverages for a start.

You’re doing that “Brit” thing…

We don’t get food credits as part of travel packages to wdw…you are the exception, not the rule.

So you can’t balk at the prices quoted when that’s very realistic for about 8 outta 10 people in the park on every single day.

so I totally admit that I like sitdown meals when we go on vacation. I think it's because generally in my real life I'm pretty frugal and tend to eat at home (especially when the kids were little). that's one of the reasons why I hated the air bnb or off site places. my family just reverted back to "lets eat at home".
anyhoo, at disney I budget usually $350 per day for meals for my family of three. many times I don't spend that but we do enjoy a good meal. ;)

i think like every place else you can move up and down the price chart.

Unfortunately I'm in Philadelphia and we're in the midst of a horrible gun violence crisis. Tourist areas are very safe but makes me want to weep. 😢 it's a really beautiful city.

We do try to see the rest of the country on our "off" Disney years.

I'm dying to do Yellowstone
What the heck is going on in Philly. A number of partygoers shot, killed and wounded last night in Philly’s entertainment district.
