Did you always order the free VHS vacation tapes? I know I always did. I am not even sure how I did it as a teenager but I managed. Were they in the same flyer as the Columbia records and BMG stuff? Pretty sure I owe them about six grand now between the two.
Wow, a blast from the past, LOL. Yes, we did order the free vacation tapes. I don't know about the flyers for the records or BMG. I wish I had kept those tapes, but they are gone with the wind........

Disney is an entertainment company and logically entertainment besides Disney is in CA ( ie Hollywood etc ), also to mention the beautiful round weather in Southern Cali. Enjoyed my time back in the day in the Newport Beach area. Didn’t need AC and didn’t even have it.

Climate is also one of the drivers for the explosion of the Homeless street population, that along with the cessation of institutional confinement of the mentally ill. As to the costs associated with being located in CA, there is quite a bit of production not located in that state but still in North America. As stated by others previously, LA doesn't reflect the majority of the nation's population in so many ways.

No doubt homelessness is a huge issue in beautiful mild climate CA. There are designated parking areas for this group or public parking in front of real estate where some have full time jobs yet still make their vehicles their makeshift home. A slick techie for a year decided to save on rent by sleeping in a makeshift trailer on the Google campus where he was employed and took advantage of the free food, drink, gym and laundry areas in the Google campus.

It's a convoluted interpretation of the reported results. Everything is not fine here, specifically with domestic parks, specifically with WDW.

The modest increase in profits for domestic parks were solely due to price increases and further monetization of guest activities. This is covering up for the lack of organic growth and the drop brand sentiment. Further the trend lines are all going to the wrong way on this as we go into 2025 and 2026.

For the record, this was not my interpretation. You guys are just so appalled that calling out misinformation is somehow a measure of support, that you cannot acknowledge simple facts and attack me.

My actual interpretation is that I agree. WDW is currently in a terrible investment lull. They are going to further cover up 2025/26 on the back of DCL. The price hikes are not a sustainable way to grow the business. We still aren’t seeing it come to a head yet, but the runway is ending unless serious investment occurs.

Caroline’s article is still absolute trash, because she literally has no idea how to interpret the financial results and did so incorrectly.

Yes it is a law.

Yes, it is a law and will not be changed because it is common sense. Whether it is a monorail, a bus, a boat, a train or an airplane, you can not do something that will block the escape of people in an emergency. All fifty states have these laws. Some laws are dumb. Some are to keep you safe. Figure it out.
Except you can have strollers that are not folded up aka left open with wheels down and even with children left in them on some of the transportation methods you listed in an attempt to prove your point………….

Can someone please explain to me how this can be? (Use small words)
Okay, I took the accounting courses and gave the SEC 10K filing a cursory read through so that you don't have to (this is the yearly filing, not the quarterly data that the article is referring to).

So basically, they're experiencing more growth internationally, and most of their renevue increases are from increased prices, not increased attendance.

Now this is what I was looking for...my immediate thought when it said income didn't go up with revenue was "well, did costs increase?" Yup. Revenue didn't keep up with the increases in labor and infrastructure costs.

There was another section on depreciation, which is also what I was looking for because of Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser closing. They would have had a large asset impairment charge, which they note that they took last year and hence had more depreciation than they did this year. I'd expect that to increase given the amount of capital expenditures (new stuff being built = higher depreciation).

Experiences is still seeing the most growth out of their segments.

There's other accounting stuff driving these results (Goodwill impairment...I don't wanna explain that one) but the 10K gives it to you straight from the horse's mouth.

…but seriously…the numbers support what we have been saying for some time (notably Mono):

They’re just milking the cows harder. And eating burgers everyday

Thank you for providing the citation. Here is what it says

§ 392.62 Safe operation, buses.

No person shall drive a bus and a motor carrier shall not require or permit a person to drive a bus unless—

(a) All standees on the bus are rearward of the standee line or other means prescribed in § 393.90 of this subchapter;
(b) All aisle seats in the bus conform to the requirements of § 393.91 of this subchapter; and
(c) Baggage or freight on the bus is stowed and secured in a manner which assures—
(1) Unrestricted freedom of movement to the driver and his proper operation of the bus;
(2) Unobstructed access to all exits by any occupant of the bus; and
(3) Protection of occupants of the bus against injury resulting from the falling or displacement of articles transported in the bus.”

I’m not sure how having a folded up stroller is “secured” a folded up stroller can still slide. If a single parent has a stroller and an infant how can they secure both the infant and the stroller? Again, the folding up the strollers in and of itself does not satisfy the law, if anything it’s more dangerous because instead of having rubber on the ground in a firmly planted device with locked tires now you have cloth on the ground that can roll.

Actually I appreciate the citation but it doesn’t use the word strollers and a folded up stroller isn’t exactly secured as it can freely move

Huh

I agree strollers are more secure open that folded up on the ground

Frankly (that means in an open, honest, and direct manner), it doesn't matter what you believe. The carrier (bus owner and operator) says that in order to ride in their equipment here are the minimum standards, one of which is folding strollers (which may or may not be regulated by an external authority). You can choose to abide by them or seek other transportation. What you replied to with "Huh" is an example of choosing to ignore that stipulation and implying that its for others, not for you. Your examples are irrelevant.

Other forms of transportation are not busses and not covered under that regulation. (ie skyliner, monorail, ferry boat)

You are right disney can make whatever arbitrary rules they want, but to cite a flimsy regulation which isn’t exactly on point or Disney can devise a system similar to the one New York City devised is something within their realm of control.
My “huh” is because I have no idea what the statement was trying to say, it’s an obscure phrase that is meaningless unless the person is familiar with it.

The person I was responded to claimed that it was covered because of blocking of emergency exits but they are wrong. The same issue they claim there is can arise on the other forms you are stating now. Now regarding the regulation it is up for interpretation, New York City has a pilot program of allowing a stroller onto its buses without being folded up in a designated spot similar to how EVC’s are.

This thread is about profits. You should start a new thread if you want to discuss strollers.

This is related to Disney accessibility which relates to potentially reduced profits. Disney restricted many attendees ability to access DAS and created premium lightening lanes. This could have an impact on their bottom line.
That subject is thoroughly discussed in this thread.
