Sorry if im a little late about posting this. President Barack Obama will be among of the speakers at a Latino leadership conference scheduled for next month at The Contemporary Resort

The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials announced this week that the president will address the group on June 22 with Romney on the 21st. The convention also will feature talks by Gov. Rick Scott and former Gov. Jeb Bush, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Florida, U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis and state Sen. Rene Garcia, R-Hialeah.

U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Florida, chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Conference, state Rep. Darren Soto, D-Orlando, U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Florida, and California State Assembly Speaker John Pérez, a Democrat, will appear at a luncheon.

I feel sorry for anyone staying at the contemporary on these dates. It will be a mess!

I understand it, but hate the idea of politics in the parks. This is, however, not the first time. Richard Nixon gave the famous "I am not a crook" speech at the Contemporary; Obama has spoken there before, and I'm pretty sure I remember other political meetings and speeches there. It is a great location...just hate it being tainted by politics.

I do agree with the OP...I'd hate to be staying at the Contemporary at that time. Security will be a nightmare.

Costly visit

:lol:I hope his visit doesn't disrupt too much that week. I can barely afford my trip, let alone the $ of his..... Would hate for our hard earned trip to be affected by his campaigning...

Agreed....with any President. With all the Secret Service, security screenings and restricted areas, it can get quote annoying when President's in town.

Really? I never knew that. Interesting.

I thought it was too. Here's a link to an article from the New York Times (I know there are others, this is one of the best I could find) - http://www.nytimes.com/learning/general/onthisday/big/1117.html

There was apparently an AP editors meeting there, and he gave a press conference. Doesn't change my opinion...still don't like politics in the WDW.

BTW....anyone know where the work politics comes from??

Easy...poly from latin, meaning many...

tics, also from latin, meaning blood s__________g creatures....

North Florida = Republicans
South Florida = Democrats
Central Florida = Moderates, and a very large population of Hispanics in South Orlando ( south 417 area is like 80% Hispanics ).

Win Orlando (and tampa) , win the election ( well, in a nut shell).
