Premier Passport first time question

Hi everyone, first post here, nice to meet all of you. :animwink:

I was in Disneyland earlier this year and it ended up making sense for me to get a Premier Passport due to my family's frequency of visiting both coasts' parks. This is my first time having this level of annual pass and my first opportunity to use it in Florida is coming up shortly. When I purchased the pass in California, I recall the CM saying something about needing to get the pass upgraded or maybe updated by Guest Relations in Florida before I could use it to enter the parks there. I don't see any mention of this online or in any of the Premier Passport information I have. If I remember correctly, he said it had something to do with the ticketing systems being different between the two resorts. I was wondering if anyone on here has any experience with this and can tell me exactly what I need to do or expect. Thanks so much in advance

I just had experience with this a couple weeks ago actually. I upgraded my Disneyland annual pass to a premier pass and then used it at Disneyland that day. 4 days later I went to Florida and attempted to use the pass at Epcot and it was declined. I had to go to guest relations where I was told it needed to be activated. The girl did something or other with it which activated it, and then I was able to get into Epcot (and the rest of the WDW parks) with no problem.

At some point during my WDW vacation, my premier pass was lost (in a fastpass shuffle I guess) and I had to have it replaced. When it was replaced, the woman at guest relations told me that next time I go to Disneyland (which will probably be on Sunday) I will have to have the replacement pass activated there for it to work, since it was used first in Florida.

Hope that helps.

I purchased my Premier pass at WDW upgrading my WDW premium pass. When I went to Disneyland I had no problem using my pass first time. That said I have in the past had a Disneyland annual pass which somehow the old record for that has been linked to my Premier pass as when I use my Premier pass at Disneyland the photo taken for my old Disneyland pass is show on the screen at the entry gates.

Not old, just vintage.
A word about my experience using a Premier Passport in WDW...expect pretty much every CM to look at you like you have 3 heads whenever you use your pass. Want a good laugh? Try to get your shopping discount in practically every store. I found it took an average of 2-3 CMs to figure out how to give the discount. Disneyland is 100x better with giving AP discounts and knowing what to do with the Premier AP. I guess WDW just doesn't see that many of them. Hell, when I went to go buy my Premier AP at WDW it took 20 minutes and 3 cast members to figure out how to sell it to me. I've never had to work so hard to spend $700 before.

It is interesting after more than a year, CM still do not know what to do with the pass. I got my in June 2010 and figured by now all the issues would be addressed. Can't wait to get mine in 2012 for WDW and DL trips.

We bought our Premier Passports in Disneyland this summer. We did have some trouble using them the first day. Apparently the CM at the Annual Pass center made some kind of error when activating them and they had to be redone. We also had a big ordeal every time we tried to use our discounts. Apparently at Disneyland, they have to enter your annual pass number to apply the discount, but Premier Passport numbers are a couple digits longer than the registers will recognize. CMs everywhere were doing weird overrides to get discounts to take properly. A few of them entered the discount code for Tokyo CMs instead of entering our passport numbers.

Those were the only issues we had, though. We didn't have to do any kind of upgrade at all to use our passports in Disney World when we visited. We were able to enter the parks on our first attempt and had no trouble using it for discounts. Disney World seemed a lot more equipped to handle the Premier Passport than Disneyland did, in our experience. Though I will say that the Disneyland CMs were more familiar with the pass, probably because they do see more of the problems associated with it.

We just bought our first premier passes last month, and have had zero issues with getting our discounts at DL. In fact, the only weird look we got was when we bought them at the ticket booth. The CM had to double check they had them, went back to some special lockup, and put us on a list of purchasers. Was kind of cool to be 2 of less than 10 people to buy them in November, there must not be much demand for them!
We're leaving for WDW in a month, I'll report here if we have any issues with getting our passes validated at guest relations.
