Pregnant Wife at Disney

I went when I was 5 months pregnant. My doctor loves Disney so when he told me I didn't have any restrictions, I knew he knew what he was talking about. The only thing that gave me trouble was Splash Mountain. When I got off the ride, I had to sit for a while because the baby was kicking the heck out of me. I was pretty uncomfortable for a while but didn't want to be a whiny baby. I told my husband how I was feeling and said "Don't tell your parents". After a while I was OK. I figured I probably scared the heck out of Jr. and to this day he will not ride Splash Mountain.

the rides at WDW tend to have warnings for the jerky rides ya know DO NOT RIDE IF YOU HAVE HAD HEART, BACK OR NECK PROBLEMS. i would watch out for those. it depends on how many mo. she is. but i guess it has to do on if she thinks the ride is okay. if she dosn't wanna ride Dumbo the n it's up to her.Right?!

We asked what she would be able to ride and he said at that time of the pregnancy the baby will be well protected. He said not to ride anything bumpy — no Space Mountain this trip. But he did say, Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain would be ok at that point in the pregnancy. That means if there is an E-ride night — it won't be a total waste :)

My daughters due date and brithday was March 29, 2002. I was sure it was going to be April fools day. I do have 3 friends with April fools day babys. Your baby will be almost 2 years younger then ours exactly. It really is a great time to have a baby, then you have all summer to hang out and do things and not worry too much about germs or colds.

Of course the September before she was born I was sick as a dog. Hope your wife has minimal morning sickness. We went to Disney the first week in Feb, I was kinda pushing it time wise, but the trip went great.

BTW when we got there I skipped SM, not because of the splash, but at the time I don't think I could of got in and out of those seats! I didn't mind skipping the rollar costers at all, but this summer I really want to ride some!

Congrats!!!! Oh what fun. I went to Disney World during my first pregnancy, but it was so ealry into the pregnancy that I didn't even know (I just couldn't figure out why I was so unbeleivably tired).

www.wdwig.com has a nice section on going to Disney World while expecting. You might want to check it out.

I would agree with others who said to skip whatever the signs tell you to. It's just not worth the risk. Besides, the longer lines for e ticket attractions will not be comfortable for your wife to stand in.

Also, if your wife's stromache doesn't bother her (not all women have morning sickness--I didn't with either pregnancy), I suggest splurging on some long, quiet meals at a few of the less kid friendly (they are all pretty good) disney restraunts (places you're not likely to get to again for several years). Schedule some long lunches at the Brown Derby and some World Showcase favorties during the heat of the day and linger over them. That's what I would do anyway.

Congrads!!!!!

Any ride that would be a problem will have a sign saying so. Here's a list of the things you may want to stay away from:

MAGIC KINGDOM:

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Splash Mountain

The Barnstormer

Tomorrowland Indy Speedway

EPCOT:

Test Track

Body Wars

DISNEY MGM-STUDIOS

Tower of Terror

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster

DISNEY'S ANIMAL KINGDOM

Kilamnjaro Safaris (may want to skip-it is VERY VERY bumpy)

Premeveil Whirl

Hope this helps,

Our first baby is due in Oct. He was conceived on Disney Property this January on our last visit (yeah baby, said like Austin Powers), I know that sounds kind of weird, but it will be a great story to tell him later.
