Does anyone know if you eat at a certain restaurant between a specific time, do they still give you special reserved seating at Fantasmic still? I know they did it years ago.

It is,you have to book the Fantasmic Dinner Package at either Brown Derby, Hollywood & Vine or Mama Melrose. ( I think those are the only choices right now)

The reserved seating for the Dinner Package really sucks anyway, I would suggest just arriving 45 minutes or an hour before on a crowded night, or even 30 minutes before the show and you'll get a better seat.

You can eat at the same restaurants as everyone else - but unless you're eating with the Fantasmic Dining Package you won't get access to the preferred seating

Just curious, where is the reserved seating located? I just assumed it was front and center.
This May when we went the stadium was full to capacity. We arrived about 45 minutes to an hour before the show started and were directed to the last section to be filled( where the boats make their entrance from). We ended up in the third row from the water and thought it was awesome being that close. Wow, what a bottleneck to get out of there though. Having one exit out of the stadium made for slow emptying the stadium. Couldn't help wondering how they would get people out if there was an emergency and they needed to get people to safety quickly.

I actually like the dining package. It makes it a little easier and you are not waiting an hour to be seated. You can be riding the rides or do whatever till it's time to go to Fantasmic.

No and no. It isn't the best seating, but you can see just as well. It is big enough that you can sit wherever you want, we got seats on the end closest to the middle and could see just fine. As for "just arrive 45 minutes before" this is simply not true for every time of the year. Two separate trips we had problems getting into Fantasmic, both times arriving an hour before.

We did the Fantasmic package last August. While If we had waited an hour/hour and a half, we probably would have gotten seats. However, we needed to eat somewhere and this allowed us to show up less than half an hour before hand and get decent seats. We did Hollywood and Vine, while I probably wouldn't choose that restaurant again, it was alright.

There are set menus for this. I'm not sure how Mama Melrose or Brown Derby work, since H&V is a buffet. Someone else can hopefully tell you what the restrictions are, since I know you pay a set price for the package. If you are going during a busy season or even moderately busy season, I would highly suggest getting the package.

If you are facing the performance area, the reserved section is on the right side, toward the front I believe. It is a large area. The time we did this, I believe as it got closer to the show time (like 5, 10 minutes before) they did fill in the section with regular folks. We found the view to be very good, I got several excellent photos and we never felt like we couldn't see anything.

We use this package every year and love it. We do not like H&V though. But if you do Mama Melrose or Brown Derby, our fave, it is wonderful.

Our trips are usually Christmastime, so not having to stand in line for an hour and a half is wonderful. The seats are right up front too. We learned after the second time to not sit right up front, but at least ten rows back if it is a windy evening or you will get sprayed everytime they do the movie on the wall of water!

But I highly reccomend the package.

Glad you are clear on your opinion.
The package is very useful however for families with small children or older members or others that can't or don't want to wait an hour for the show.

Seating is off on the right side, but for those that want to see the show, it is just fine.

While your choice is clear, many, including myself think the package is a very nice convenience.

Sorry Clemson and Divine, I just wanted to voice my opinion on the subject. I guess the few times I've tried the Dinner package I just didn't have a great time at all. It could work for a lot of other families, but not mine. :(

That's fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, I don't think it is wise to suggest to someone to "just show up half an hour, 45 minutes before" because it is very likely they would not get a seat after following that advice. If we miss Fantasmic one night, we can adjust our schedule and go another night. Not everyone has as flexible a schedule or as much time as us, though. So if they miss it the one night they could go by following the "30-45 min" advice, well, that would just be sad.

This being said, the package does not work for everyone, like you mentioned. However, I do still say that during a busy season, it is very helpful. Our opinion was that we needed to eat anyway, why not eat and get the special tickets. Of course, everyone will see this differently.

Edit to add: KC, could you share specifically what it was that you did not enjoy? Was it just the location of the seating? Where did you dine? I'm just curious if you've done it a few times what the factors are that you would not choose to do it again. I have only done it once, so it's possible I just had good luck.

Does anyone know if you can you use a sit down ticket for Mama Rosas Fantasmic Dinner Package? And if so, it's pre fix meal right? (what do you get in that?)
