Predictions for WDW's 40th Anniversary

In 2011 it will be time to celebrate WDW's 40th Anniversary. Disneyland celebrated with a promo called "40 Years of Adventures" to go along with the recent launch of Indy, but what do you think will happen for WDW's 40th? (assuming some sort of celebration would happen) Also at Disneyland, they buried a "Time Castle" in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle that will be opened on DL's 80th Anniversary. Do you think something like that might happen?

With the recent Fantasyland Expansion, I'm wondering if they will market it as "40 Years of Fantasy", though the expansion still won't be ready in time for that. I'm at least hoping for a new Firework Show and maybe a new Parade. It's a shame nothing like the size of Indy will happen for WDW's 40th (seeing as construction probably would've had to be started by now)

What do you think will happen, if something is to happen?

I'd love to see a time capsule. One for each park would be good,especially MK and EPCOT,they change the most.

I think DL's may have been removed,but I might be wrong.

Fireworks, parades, MAYBE a small attraction here and there. I'm looking at EPCOT for that....and I'm thinking DHS will market ST2.0 for it, too.


No where near the original plans for E Tics, as was conceptualized years ago. :(

I for one would like something similar to HCOE where each park got something..Although Cinderella-bration and LMA were the Meh attractions..It's a posibility that something will be announced for next years D23 to tie it all in..Maybe.

new Fireworks and new parades are good for the WDW 40th Anniversary! They need a new show in front of Cinderella's Castle forecourt stage!

If there is going to be anew new attractions for the 40th announced next year at the Expo that only gives them about a year to build it, isn't that not long enough?

I was dreaming up what they could do for two different style celebrations:

40 Years of Fantasy-
  • New Parade
  • New Firework Show
  • Open a section of FF on Oct 1st, 2011
  • A Time "Castle" placed during the 40th Ceremony
  • Redo IaSW by it's 40th with the new scenes and characters from DL's
  • Decent refurb for PeterPan (it really needs it, looking at the DL one)

....the last one was redo of FL west, but I highly doubt it will ever happen.

40 Years of Adventures-
  • New Parade
  • New Firework Show
  • A Time "Castle" placed during the 40th Ceremony
  • Updates to JC (special effects, enhanced landscape, new props, etc)
  • Redo of the Tiki Room (brand new songs, new special effects, updated AA's, addition of the Enchanted Tiki Garden)
  • Removal of the Flying Carpets to add a new tiki or arabian themed water play area (or they could put in just a planter...:lookaroun)
  • New Pirate themed Buffet somewhere in ALand

....the last one was Announce Indy for ALand, but I doubt it would happen.

Expanding on the popularity of the hat as seen at DHS, I'd like to see an additional hat added to each of the parks. It screams Disney, and will help people remember that they are in a Disney park. For example, maybe the hat could be placed on top of SSE, or in front of the Fountain of Nations.

Thoughts?

New Fireworks! Yes!
Removal of the Fkying Carpets? Yes, return Adventureland to its less clausterphobic Glory!

Nightastic. :) And yes, that treatment given to Spectro would be nice. :D

Some decent predictions on here.. Hopefully we can at least expect a parade. Love Spectro, but not a huge fan of the others.. Was disappointed when we stopped for the parade at HS. Blah. Move it, Shake it, made me laugh though.. mostly because my sister and mother were dancing but whatev.

The WDW 40th anniversary is a milestone in the company but not as big as it was for DL 50th (The Happiest Homecoming / Celebration on Earth).

That by the way it bugged me that WDW was the resort that got the 4 gifts and not the Park that was celebrating.

Now I do can see a recicled parade, Same fireworks different ending, and something from other parks.

Now i do like to see a 2 new firework shows (MK and Epcot), a refurbished of a 2 classics (Hollywood Studios) Maybe some rebranding (everywhere) and Something like nothing in any park in the world.

But those are my wishes.

Its still there, back in Jan-March of this year there were walls spanning all over Main Street as well as the castle forecourt as DL replaced the pavement and added curbs to different areas one of the areas that never had a curb for 53 years was directly infront of the castle.

During the 50th Disneyland opened , a lot May 5 brought, Parade of Dreams, Block Party Bash, Remember...Dreams Come True, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Disneyland the First 50 Magical Years, then in July Space Mountain, and in Jan 06 Monsters Inc.at DCA.


For a major attraction for the 40th I really dont see it happening at this point as it would need to start construction soon, Star Tours 2 will be touted no doubt. It will be really sad if there isnt a brand new parade or fireworks. Im hopeing for that, if DL can put on 4 firework shows a year (no extra admission) then WDW can do with at least one new show.
