PRE-Trip Report: December 11-16, 2011

My trip is fast approaching and I thought it might be fun to do a pre-trip report this time.
Just a little background info on me and my past trips:
Usually my trips to the world are taken with my mother and sometimes my cousin comes along as well. My husband has long been convinced that there is nothing special about Disney and that he would not have a good time if he went to WDW. He doesn't understand my love for the parks (and all things Disney) but he tolerates my insanity and lets me go each year with my mom who is just like me.
Well...last March I surprised him with a trip to Florida for the Detroit Tigers Spring Training as he is a huge baseball fan. Originally I hadn't planned for Disney to be involved at all, but after I surprised him with the trip, he mentioned that perhaps we should extend it just a couple of days and we could go to WDW for one day. I thought this was perfect since I would be able to ease him in rather then showing him the full extent of my craziness while at WDW. So we booked two nights stay at Port Orleans Riverside and I chose Epcot as our park that we would visit on our full day. I thought it was the best choice as he hates crowds, lines, screaming kids, etc and he is into science, history, and cultures. I think he would like the Magic Kingdom eventually, but I wanted this time to be something he would really like and then I could convince him to go back! So we went to Epcot that day and I did my best to just slow down and relax so as not to stress him out. We ate dinner at Les Chefs de France and he tried his hand at drinking around the world as he also enjoys different beers and such. Well after our day he admitted that it wasn't "that bad." Although I think he secretly loved it and is just too proud to admit it. MEN! After that day we then drove to Lakeland and Fort Myers to enjoy the rest of our trip at the baseball parks.

So on to this December...
I was going on and on about wanting to see the parks at Christmas since I never have before. We had been trying to start a family and I was telling him this year might be my last chance to go for a while if we did indeed get pregnant. Since I don't really think I would take an infant to WDW - I would imagine it would be another 3-4 years before we would go again and then it would be with a child and a whole different experience. I wanted to take one last hurrah and see the Christmas stuff and enjoy ourselves as a couple. He finally agreed that he would go with me for an entire week of Disney goodness!!!!!! This was back in August when we made our final decision.
Well in mid-October I found out that I was expecting!! So that puts a different spin on the trip as well as some of the things I was planning would not be do-able anymore. Not to mention I am so extremely neaseated (sp??) that even the restaurants I'd chosen don't sound good. I will be around 12 weeks when we leave so I am hoping I will feel alright and that I will still have a good time even though we have to take it majorly easy. That might be a good thing however as my husband gets stressed easily. I am planning on us just taking our time, seeing the sights, some rides that I can do, but I also am going to make him do a few on his own as I just won't be able to stand it if we BOTH don't do them!

So our trip meal schedule is as follows:

We are staying at Coronado Springs for the first time. I usually prefer Port Orleans Riverside but I wanted to try something new and my travel agent talked me into it.

December 11 - we arrive, probably to the resort around 3 pm. I plan to head over to the Magic Kingdom to see the castle lights for our first night. As far as food goes we are just going to wing it. No plans.

December 12 - Grand Floridian Cafe for dinner

December 13 - California Grill for dinner. The best part is our reservation is right before the fireworks begin and this night is a Mickey's Christmas Party night so I am hoping we can see some fireworks we haven't seen before. I have never eaten here during fireworks so I am not sure exactly how it works. Hopefully we can be by a window or go out on the deck. The only bad part is the dinner is really late. I am going to need to do some serious snacking this day.

December 14 - Biergarten for dinner. I am a little nervous about this one. It is actually one of my favorites and as my husband is a beer drinker I really thought he would enjoy it. That was before I was pregnant though. Now...thinking about the meat and the smells is kind of making me ill. I REALLY hope I am doing better in two weeks!

December 15 - Kouzzina at the Boardwalk. This is the only one I have not been to before and was one I went back and forth about. I really wanted to eat over at the Boardwalk and wanted a one credit table service. I am hoping we enjoy it. Any reviews would be appreciated.

December 16 - we leave this day and will probably have to be to Magical Express by 1pm - so I planned on probably just sleeping in and enjoying the resort or possibly going somewhere in the morning if I am feeling alright. No plans however on where we need to be.

So I hope to post a full report when I get back on how it went. I am hoping that my husband enjoys it and wants to go back, but if not, at least he tried it and I am so happy he wanted to give it a chance. I'm nervous about being pregnant and not feeling well but I plan on taking it easy and who knows maybe this will be my favorite trip since I took a second to slow down and look around me.
Hope to hear from anyone who has been pregnant in the parks or anyone in general. Thanks guys!

That's wonderful to hear. Congratulations on both. I too was a disney world pessimist, only because i didn't have the luxury to go as a child, until my first trip. My wife convinced me to go for our 1 year anniversary and i was hooked ever since. Now i can't get enough and i make sure our kids get to enjoy and not miss out. So i think your husband will enjoy it.

Thank you! I was just finishing reading yours! Can you believe we will be there in 10 days!! :)
Glad to hear others were like my husband. I hope he turns into someone like you because honestly it has been a hard road not being able to share my love for Disney with him! He thinks I'm a nut sometimes!

Congrats on the baby!! Disney definitely is a totally different experience with kids! (Not that I have any but from taking all my younger cousins and stuff, I know it can be different and sometimes difficult)

All your meal choices sound yummy! i've heard pretty good things about Kouzzina so hopefully you will enjoy it! And hopefully the hubby will come out of this with a newfound love for Disney, so much so that he will be begging to go back soon!!! :p

The secret to avoiding morning sickness is to never go without eating every few hours. IF your blood sugar drops you will get nauseated very fast. So, take crackers and peanut butter or just plain crackers and snack away! Drink a ton of water also. I went pregnant twice and both times had a very nice time, slow, but relaxing. There is so much to enjoy at Christmas time so pace yourself, watch out for the smells that will make you sick and eat every few hours and you will be fine. By 12 weeks most people are feeling better anyway, just tired. Have a blast!

Thanks so much! I am hoping he will feel the same too! But regardless, I am just glad he was willing because I can't get enough!!!

Yes I am hoping to be feeling better by then. I already feel a little bit better then I have the last few weeks. Thanks for the advice. I plan on bringing alot of water and crackers as well so I will be prepared. I guess the nice thing about not being able to ride the big rides is that now I can bring a bigger bag and not have to worry about who is going to carry it while I'm on a ride!

Kouzzina is now in my top 3 restaurants at WDW! It is fantastic. You will really enjoy it.

So glad to hear that! I wanted to give something new a try so I went for it. It sounds good and I love the area over there so I think we will have a nice time.

I went a few years ago pregnant and we had a blast. I was also one of the lucky ones who never suffered with morning sickness so that was not a problem. Just remember, no roller coasters.
My Doctor told me that about 20 times on my last visit before we went.
