Does anyone know if the PPD Skin Test is the same as the TB Skin Test? I need the PPD skin test for college but if it is the same thing then I can just take the TB test I think. does anyone know that also? Thank you

The PPD or mantoux test is a TB test. Its different from the tine test most people are used to (where your skin is pricked with a small circle of small needles) in the fact that the antigen is injected under the skin using a single needle. It will be read after 48-72 hrs.

Its a more accurate test and is being used more often these days.

You MUST get the PPD test. If you get any other test the results WILL NOT be accepted.

Take your medical requirement sheet to the doctor and get the required shots & tests .

A PPD is a specific type of TB test.

I agree. Definately get the PPD test from your doctor's office. It is much more accurate. I give them all the time at the doctor's office that I work at. It is usually the only TB test that the colleges will accept. If you are planning on any type of career in the medical field, they will make you get a 2-step PPD. Hope this info helps!

They will sign it for you, the doctor or nurse who administers the test is the health care provider. Do you need a full physical? They can take care of that for you too.
