Potter 2.0 Could Be Coming As Early as June 2014, Will Disney Respond?

For Creative and the different manufacturers to test out the ride system and screen tech and effects. Much like Gringotts will start testing as soon as they can. New tech takes time to work out the kinks.

I certainly do not see why some say summer 2014 isn't possible. If you compare pics of phase from April 2009 to phase 2 currently, they are basically at the same stage. And if they are testing HE starting in August, it's opening sometime in 2014, IMHO.

That's what I was thinking (that it would be for testing, not the public).

I do hope that it is completed before the end of 2014 (we have a trip planned, and I was tempted to delay to 2015 to make sure we got to see HP2.0, but was outvoted, so hopefully it will be open, and we would not be missing it by a few months...)

I'm not sure what the final JP plan is, but the art I have seems to show a project that would likely take at least 18mos.

But...it IS Universal....where normal timeframes have no meaning. (Probably take Disney 4 years.)

I would have thought that Universal would be aiming for...

2012: Despicable Me, Universal Cinematic Spectacular, Universal Superstar Parade
2013: Transformers, Springfield
2014: Harry Potter 2.0
2015: Jurassic Park Expansion
2016: KidZone refurbishment

...so that they have something new every year - unless they think that HP2.0 will completely close the park off and so IoA will need something new?

I suppose that there is the rumour of a new night time show in IoA at some point, so that could open in 2014?

Has anyone heard anymore about a new lagoon show in IOA/KidZone refurbishment?

Many sources such as Screamscape's also thought that Hogsmeade as a village without Forbidden Journey would open up the Christmas before the summer which potter opened.

In fairness, I've heard that would have happened had JK Rowling not come through at the last minute and said the completed roofs needed to be scrapped and re-done. Plans change, doesn't mean the rumor wasn't anticipated truth at one time.

I read on another board that Uni's AP sales dropped 75% from the announcement of WWoHP until its opening. While I don't know they would see quite that big a drop this time, obviously they stilll want to make the window between announcement and opening as short as possible. And with vertical construction already taking shape, you have to figure by the end of the Summer it's going to be obvious to even the general public that what's being built has a Harry Potter aesthetic. The faster they can get the land open after that, the better.

The problem with announcements at Universal is that they can't simply just decide to announce anything. They have to work with all the intellectual property owners and get them to buy off on their marketing and PR strategies. If those messages aren't properly conveyed it can throw the whole strategy and timeline off. Which has happened very recently (not with HP).

I can't get into it but the artwork that's out there is not whats coming, at least if Lee and I are talking about the same artwork. That's a previous concept that was passed on.

Jaws has gone - London/Diagon Alley/HP2.0 will replace it - Gringotts Coaster, Hogwarts Express connecting to IoA, among other things
Transformers - going behind Monster's Café - opposite Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
Springfield - taking over International Film and Food Festival with Krusty Burger/Moe's Tavern etc. Also adding Duff Gardens and a Kang & Kodos spinner on the waterfront in front of The Simpsons ride (former Back to the Future ride).

Awesome thanks dude.
All in all I cant wait for all of this to open, its going to certainly take some beating thants for sure.
Ive always done both universal parks in 1 day before but it looks like thats going to be difficult with all this new stuff going in:)

One question tho, will guests HAVE to have a 2 park pass to be able to use the hogwarts express?

I don't know if that's been decided yet.

If you want to "get off" the train (ie, go from IOA WWOHP to USF DA, or from USF DA to IOA WWOHP), then you will have to get a 2 park pass.
However, I don't think it's been confirmed whether if you have a 1 park pass, you can ride the Hogwarts Express, but are then moved into a holding area to be sent back to where you came from, without getting to experience the rest of the area you travelled to.

Nice ok.il most likely be getting a 2 park pass anyway, I was just curious. :)

Just out of curiosity, how much is a 2 park pass at the gate now?
I live in england and I can only find prices for uk only deals.

Looks like $123 for a day. The best deal right now is buy 2 days get the third for free. Doesn't sound like you want to go three days but that deal is, $139.99 for US and Canadian's only.

Just of interest how much is a ticket going for or packages for the England.
Is that $123 for just 1 park?
I remember when I was there last may a 2 park 1 day pass was something like $120
The only deal I can find is £119 for a 14 day pass, so thats something like $140-$150.
Id just rather not get a 14 day pass when im only going to use it twice.:(

Late last June, my husband and I spent 5 days in Orlando. We had a 4-day park hopper for Disney and also planned to spend a day at Universal in the Harry Potter World. Thankfully, we arrived at HPW fairly early in the morning and were able to do the main attractions there, and see the land, before the heaviest crowds set in. Universal did a NICE job representing the HP books/movies.

What stood out to me, though, was how stuffed and cramped everything was, compared to WDW. We were not aware that Universal crammed 3 parks (US, IoA, and CW) into 41 acres. Add the crowds to the already small space, plus the heat and humidity (we were there right after Tropical Storm Debby), made it unbearable for us.

Poor man's Disney??? Not at the prices for the tickets. The price was comparable.

The Universal Orlando complex is over 800 acres. 41 acres would be less than half of IOA by itself. The individual parks are no Animal Kingdom, but they aren't small by any means (IMO.)
