Tom Schroder the VP in charge of Public Relations went on the record of saying that it would not open in 2014. But who knows.

Very unlikely that Potter will have an opening of phase 2 in 2014. Many sources such as Screamsape's also thought that Hogsmeade as a village without Forbidden Journey would open up the Christams before the summer which potter opened. People are just hoping it gets here faster. Potter will likely be completely open around the time that Avatar was supposed to open at Animal Kingdom.

This is true for MK, as it is the quintessential Disney experience. As for the other parks, their attendance can absolutely be eaten into by competition. Disney can try to make the price right by offering cheap multi-day tickets, but that is only one solution.

Will Universal become the top dog in Orlando? Highly unlikely. Will it position itself to attract tourists away from WDW property for portions for their vacation? Without a doubt.

DHS is in trouble unless it offers something more. It appeals to the same demographics as most of Uni's attractions, and right now Uni is poised to become the more appealing of the two.

In my situation, I am a DVC owner and I can say that rather than spend our usual 10 days at WDW, we will be doing 7 then spending 3 days at USO. USO has improved drastically over recent years and only getting better. Also, being able to take advantage of their unlimited fast passes for staying in property is HUGE... I will always love WDW, but USO is worth shortening my stay at WDW.

MK will be fine...maybe Epcots numbers will remain steady too...but I seriously doubt DHS and DAK are going to bring in the same numbers next year. Universal is growing...and improving greatly. Big additions to Uni Studios as well as expansions to JP at IOA will really make Universal hard to miss.

I haven't been this excited in years for Universal...but completely unenthused by WDW the past number of years.

Seriously. We're going to start speculating on a Potter 2.0 swatter?

Where the hell was the first Potter swatter?

For that matter, where the hell was the Disney response to Spider-man?

Disney is just using WDW to sell timeshares, vacation packages, and guest data. I don't think they care a bit about offering new, cutting-edge attractions.

When I'm allowed I will but if you read around I mentioned elsewhere how nervous certain people were about the status of the South Station long ago. Reason being they want to begin testing the Express in the fall.

Fall 2013?

I guess that wouldn't be for the public though, would it? Or would people just have to complete a full loop?

For Creative and the different manufacturers to test out the ride system and screen tech and effects. Much like Gringotts will start testing as soon as they can. New tech takes time to work out the kinks.


I certainly do not see why some say summer 2014 isn't possible. If you compare pics of phase from April 2009 to phase 2 currently, they are basically at the same stage. And if they are testing HE starting in August, it's opening sometime in 2014, IMHO.
