POTC Question

On our last trip to Disney, about 8 years ago, my wife and I had our picture taken at Pirates of the Caribbean. You know, in the lobby area where you can dress up as a pirate. Well, in late August we are taking our 5 year old daughter for her first trip to Disney. We were wondering if they still do these pictures. Does anyone know? We thought it would be cool to have a family picture done all dressed up as pirates. Or I can be the pirate and my wife and daughter can be my wenches. LOL

Been there a million times and have never seen it. I have seen people go to the big giftshop at the ride exit and get dressed up a bit for pictures.

I have one of those pictures with the big rubber pirate.

We were just there in June and it wasn't where it used to be. I wasn't looking for it, but I wandered around that gift shop pretty well. And I didn't see it.

I don't remember seeing anything when we were there back in April. I even asked my wife, who's memory works far better than mine, and she doesn't recall seeing anything like you are describing. Sorry.

I have an answer!

I also remember that place... If I find the picture, I will post it up. About 6 or 7 years ago, they took it away b/c they thought it was not popular anymore. But Yes, it was there, and it was cool, and they have no legitimate reason for taking it away. I think they wanted to expand the gift shop...

Found it! Ok here goes... I'm the little girl in the picture, I was about 5 years old in this...

but they really didn't, did they? i thought they just covered the place up where it used to be, cuz wasn't it sort of in a little nook on the right side of the store where you exit PotC? i could be completely wrong, though...it's been too long!

but yeah, they have places everywhere that you can get your pics made with the cartoon characters! There's only 2 that i can think of. Studio M at Downtown Disney Marketplace for sure. and there's one at MGM, but for the life of me, i can't think of what it's called! i do know, though, that it's across from where you exit Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playset. it's the place where there's old 'props' hanging all over the place, there's boxes everywhere that people can open and they make sounds, and the roller from Who Framed Roger Rabbit is coming through the wall....anybody remember what that place is called? and if they still make pics there? i think they did last time i was there (last year)
but at those two you can choose your own background and they all have different characters...or at least most of them do.
can anyone think of any more, or are those the only two?

I'm not sure of this but I think that they have some similar photo booths at the Main Street Exposition Hall. It is right next to Tony's Town Square restaurant. They are way in the back. I dont know which ones they have but you mignt get lucky.. Anyone here know anything or that is going in the near future that can find out?

they took the Pirates one out in the early or mid 90's (early 90's, i think) so that's why you've never seen or heard of them doing it. my first trip was in 92, and i clearly remember the area. i wish i had a picture of the place, but i was too young to maintain a camera in those days.
but i never thought of using a pic like that for a senior slideshow! that would be cool!

I'm surprised they took it down. Seems like lots of people would want to do that, but i guess it was ditched to sell more merchandise like always.:(

you bet, Disneyanna! :animwink: :D

but honestly, i don't think a bunch of people writing into Disney asking for the Pirates photo-op back will do any good...Disney doesn't seem to 'listen' to people unless Eisner has a say in it.

Wait a minute...are you SURE that pic is the pic you are talking about??? I remember a "fake" pirate and a "SET" like you were on a pirate ship... (The pirate had a black beard and was driving the ship)... I have a pic somewhere but I'll have to look.
