I think a fourth Pirates is a safe bet at this point. As already stated, Depp has shown interest in further films, and with the franchise being so popular the big wigs will jump all over another sequel. It has been stated that this film is the end of the trilogy, but not necessarily the franchise. Also I think the blatant set up at the end of the third film pretty much seals the deal for a fourth installment.

In regards to the scene after the credits, I found a comment online yesteday that was supposedly from the writers explaining the scene with Elizabeth and Will Turner Jr. Apparently the curse of the Flying Dutchman's captain can be broken if his true love is awaiting him when he makes port after the first ten years at sea. Therefore, one can assume that Will's curse is broken since Elizabeth is waiting for him on shore, and he can now live a normal mortal life with his family. This also explains why Davy Jone was so enraged with Tia Dalma. She was not waiting for him when he came ashore, and therefore he remained cursed. While this wraps up things fairly nicely, to my knowledge it has not been officially validated.

Yes! It made us laugh. I think the other people in the theater thought we were crazy. We were laughing at things that nobody else thought was funny.

I've read that too. My question is how does that square with the (multiply stated) line that "the Dutchman MUST have a captain"?

If Will is now free, does that mean one of his crew members has to cut out his own heart and be promoted to captain?

Methinks the writers simply threw logic to the wind on this one...

Someone has to ferry the souls, so some poor shmuck is going to be wandering along the beach one day when the Dutchman crew run up to him with a pointy knife and ill intent.

As much as I'd love to see it, I just don't see how a fourth movie would do very well. What's left to develop? There is no "bad guy" left from any previous movies. I think it would ruin the legacy.

I saw it Thursday night, and I loved it. But I was still confused on many parts, so I will definitely be going back when school gets out

I would love for there to be a fourth one. But haven't Orlando and Keira said they don't want to do one? Believe me, I think Johnny Depp makes the movie, so it won't be a huge upset to me if Will and Elizabeth aren't in it. But at the same time, I don't know. They've always been in them, so I guess it wouldn't be the same to me without them.

This just means the captain of the Dutchman isn't bonded to the ship any longer. Doesn't mean she won't have a captain. Calypso will see to it that someone new is appointed...and hopefully this time it won't be a whiney love sick guy who cuts his heart out when he doesn't get what he wants!

I think everyone said they needed a break from these movies.

Keira has stated that she wants to get away from the movie business, and I just read in the newspaper today that Orlando wants to take a break from movies and go into plays for a while.

I am all for it, I would love to see a 4th movie, granted they take their time and come up with a really good script and give us a great movie. I love these movies and as a huge POTC fan, I am so pleased with the way they turned out. I do think everyone needs a break, take some time away from Pirates so they will be excited to come back and do another one.

Pirates is still very popular, as shown by the MTV audience.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest won for Best Performance (Johnny Depp) and for Best Movie. I was surprised however they were not up for Best Fight (Jack Davenport vs. Johnny Depp vs. Orlando Bloom, especially when you consider the fight on a giant wheel!) and was not put up for Best Kiss (Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley).

I think it got ripped off for not winning Best Villian (Bill Nighy as Davy Jones.) How could they give it to Jack Nicholson? :veryconfu

i the begining of the movie we can see a boy ( elithabets son ) and i don't think that it's just an coincidence, i don't think that they couldn't find another boy for that cast or they hadn't money for it :lol: it means that the scene in the begining maybe was happening 10 years later and i also think that bekket could return just like jack or barbossa and he was waiting the boy to start singing the pirate song...................why ? maybe because he knew that jack will and elithabet would come to save the boy............i don't know...........

Next, the two boys aren't the same actor. They are completely different actors. They look similar, but they are different.
