I am planning on proposing to my g/f on our 1st day at DW in October. I have two ideas as of now. One is dinner at the California Grill...After dinner heading out to the overlook for a view of the fireworks..and proposing out there...

My other idea is dinner in the castle...and purchasing the embroided Slipper that I have heard about...is there a link I can go to with the information on this?

I am open to any other ideas someone may come up with...thanks in advance

O the possibilites there are at WDW!!!! Magic Kingsdom has many. But the dinner thing at Cinderellas is a great idea. Let them know though in advance what you are doing. Make sure someone takes your pic though doing the proposal....its nice to have that memory. If ya need anymore ideas let us know. Another nice place in MK is the rose garden which is really pretty right now or cinderellas wishing well. Hope that helps....

I'd say just as you enter the Fifth Dimension, right before the first drop on the "Tower of Terror".

But that's just me...

Congratulations!

First off, I would NOT recommend California Grill for your proposal. I find it noisy, congested and well, just not intimate.

I like the idea of the castle...you can also get CM's help in making it a little more special...like arranging for having a special CM deliver the ring...check with them.

There are many many nice opportunities to do this, some do it outside during Wishes...also with a CM's help.

Good luck!

A proposal in front of Cinderella Castle, right before 'Wishes', would be unforgettably romantic. This is, of course, coming from someone who proposed to his wife in front of Cinderella Castle, right before "Fantasy In The Sky". :sohappy: Her sister chastised me for "ruining any marriage proposal she'll ever get, because it won't be as special as this!" :)

I would definitely call and find out what options they can assist you with. I really like the idea about proposing in front of the castle, with the ring in the slipper. Plus, you'll get lots of applause from everyone around when you do it. :)

I had a similar idea about outside during Wishes. If you go into Fantasyland the fireworks shoot right over your head. The cast members there were very friendly when we were there... maybe they could help you time it just right so the fireworks shoot off over your head at exactly the right moment. Tough timing, though... you might be safer inside the Castle.

For added romance, you could also rent a boat and take a fireworks cruise, either at Magic Kingdom or Epcot. The boats hold 8 or 10 people but I'm sure for a few $$$ you could rent the whole boat for the two of you and have a very romantic cruise. The view of the fireworks from the water is great in both locations. If you want to do this, call them asap as the cruises book up fast. If you like the cruise idea, they might have some ideas when you call them. I think there are private yachts they rent to VIPs, not sure if you qualify and no idea what they might cost... but (hopefully) you only propose once in your life!

Good luck - let us know how it works out!

I guess it depends on whether you want it to be a quiet, private moment or a proposal for all to see. I choose the quiet route. Enjoyed the Luau at the Poly and after everybody cleared we walked along the path, stopped and looked across the Seven Seas at the lit up Castle. Nobody around. Popped the question. It was just perfect. Of course my strategy was to not plan it, just do it when the moment felt right. I actually didn't do it the first day we were there. I waited until the end of the second night which drove the family back home nuts as well as my sister and brother-in-law who were with us. My only advice is be careful not to plan it to precise as this could lead to problems or even disappointment. I would suggest to give yourself enough flexibility to let the moment create itself. Any proposal at Disney will be one you'll never forget. You'll relive it each time you go back... Good Luck!! :sohappy:

Thanks for all the friendly advice. I am sure any way I propose will be memorable. My 1st thought was to propose during wishes, but I had agreed about the timing issue which is what led me to my othert ideas. My only current issue is she shies away from drawing attention to herself...so perhaps I may want to do it more private...well I guess I have got time to think about it.

Proposal Ideas

:sohappy: :sohappy: I am glad to hear someone else finds Disney so romantic and not a playhouse for children and adults. I would recommend by the Wishing Well by the castle then you could "Wish for her to become your wife and live a wonderful, magical life together." :sohappy:

You may want to check with the people that make the cakes for the weddings and see if you can get a small cake made for the night you propose to her for you to enjoy back in the room.

PLEASE let us know how it goes. My husband and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversay next June and I am planning on a Disney cruise and renewing our vows on the beach on Disney's Island.

I'd say go to the Polynesian at dusk, get a hammock for two ostensibly to see the water parade. Then complain a little bit that you can't get comfortable and eventually go, "Well no wonder why I can't get comfortable, I have this huge ring in my pocket! Maybe you can wear it for a while. I know if you did, *I'D* be more comfortable."

If you do this, I expect to be invited to the wedding, and I'll have the chicken. Thank you.

If you want to do it at dinner, I suggest making reservations at one of the Grand Floridian restuarant (preferably Citricos, Narcoosee is too loud) and requesting as a surprise the Cinderella Slipper dessert. Is it not something on the menu, but we had it at our wedding at The Grand in 2001. I surprised my wife with it for our 1st anniversary. I told the waiter/waitress no matter what we order for dessert, jsut say OKAY and then bring out the dessert. If you need a photo, let me know

I ended up proposing in front of the Xmas tree in the Magic Kingdom. I woudln't have been able to wait all day long, I had to do it as soon as we got into the park

You can watch the special on Disney weddings on the Food Network. It is on at 4 pm eastern on 6/27. They have a section on there of a man proposing at Victoria and Alberts. It is worth watching.

The glass slipper is a great idea. Maybe you cold present the ring to her in the glass slipper. They can be purchased at the glass store (sorry I don't have the name) on Main St and also the glass store at Downtown Disney. Maybe someone could help with the names. My ex-fiance was going to propose to me at the Wedding Pavillion. Around sunset would have been beautiful. Congrats and Good Luck.
