News Major Hurricane Dorian impacts to Walt Disney World 2019

NWS and NOAA models have this making a beeline for Central Florida this weekend. (There's nothing big happening at WDW this weekend is there?) Several computer models including the Euro and GFS show this developing into a major hurricane before reaching the Space Coast. Map is updated at 5 and 11AM/PM

Supposed to be going to Uni this weekend. Guess there is always a risk when booking a trip to Florida Labor Day weekend.

At most will be a tropical storm. With tropical systems there’s no lightning which will allow most outdoor rides to continue operations. Really only the ferry could be closed due to winds if they get that high. So minimal to no impact at all.

So, we are supposed to go to the Water Parks on Saturday for the first time ever, I know so much is unknown right now, wondering if we should start planning something else...

Once it clears Hispaniola and enters the warm waters of the Bahamas, models will get a better handle on how the system will intensify.

For perspective Hurricane Harvey in 2017 rapidly intensified from a TD to a major Hurricane in a little more than 24 hours once it hit the warm clear waters of the western gulf. Models did not anticipate it until it cleared the Yucatán.

Dorian appears to be taking a similar initial track to Maria, but shifts over the the west rapidly instead of up and out to sea. Granted it’s no where near as powerful as Maria was, the possibility for rapid intensification exists.

Usually if it's weather related the airlines won't give you anything since it's not there fault.

Not really. Most airlines will issue travel waivers allowing you to make changes without incurring a change fee. For example United will wave the $200 fee per ticket to change to another later or earlier flight. Provided you are going to the same destination and in the same fare class.

Definitely Tropical Tidbits, up where I am in the northeast his site is fantastic for our winter storms.

The question for intensification depends on how organized it is past Puerto Rico and Hispaniola. Conditions there are very favorable for development. Let’s see what the models look like then.
