possible Beauty & the Beast attraction in Fatasyland

Just like every other silly rumor.

Honestly though I would like to see a dark ride made for B&B and other newer classics. I wouldn't replace old rides, but add them. There is plenty of space to add rides.

News from Disney Corporate HQ: execs were so pleasantly suprised w/the $ success of the B & the B 10th aniversary DVD sales - causing them to fast track the release of the two subsequent DVD's (Belle's X-mas/last week's).
This has resparked the pre-planning of a B & the B Fantasyland Dark ride-attraction (similar to the new Pooh ride).
Location considerations are the current character meet and greet area near the 20,000 leagues lagoon or where Belle currenlty does the storytime readings (grotto area on right side of Castle).

You've read the wrong news, from the wrong HQ:) :) :) :)

It really wouldn't be unreasonable to place a ride in the lagoon area, especially one based on Beauty and the Beast. However, I doubt Disney will spend any more $$ on one of its most visited parks. They are focusing on Epcot and Animal Kingdom right now. I do however suspect, that current head of theme parks, Jay Rasulo, will in the future address the lagoon situation; in my opinion just by looking at the amount of space above ground ( I really don't know if it would interfere with the underground tunnels) in the lagoon area, there is space for two rides, especially if you remove the grotto. I think they could fit a great dark ride based on Beauty and the Beast, and perhaps feature a ride based on Treasure Planet (or some other newer movie). Just my opinion on the matter.:hammer:

silly rumor-why is that exactly? Because cynicism is easier than vision. The $ problems Disn faces right now do not suddenly end their vision. This is DISNEY-I believe they have established a pattern of forward thinking.
The execs want to adress the lagoon-period. The execs want to address the "newer" films-period. The Belle and Ariel attractions will happen w/in 5 years. That's from the "right" HQ.
For more info on the B&B dark ride design, cynics can check out

I read your link and unless I'm mistaken it is merely a fansite and not a disney HQ site. Even then, it makes no reference to a B&B ride at MK, but merely discusses the one that at one point was discussed for EURO DL. I'm sure Disney wants to address the new movies, but there are no confirmed stories that disney will build these rides in the near future. There are tons of CMs on this site, and i'm sure if it were true, we would have heard something from them. And at a minimum it would have been reported somewhere else on another website. Don't turn wishful thinking into silly rumors. Let's stick with good rumors a la Forbidden Mt. (which is prob. a lie as well, but at least there has been talk elsewhere).

I have no idea as to the validity of any B and the B news, I'm just a new member and haven't had a chance to post anything yet! so hi. Anyway, I would love any of the princesses to have a theme ride anywhere... I'm so surprised this hasn't come up before now.

First of all...

Welcome MouseMadness!

I have heard about it before that they were going to put this in at Euro Disney. It sounds really neat from what I read! I hope this comes true but I am not about to hold my breath.:brick:

IDEA

yeah they can make a ride with all of them princesses, with all the villains of the respective movies conspiring against them, it would make for a great dark ride and would appeal to both sexes:animwink: (then again you can just forget the princesses and just make a ride about the villains...but then again isn't that a ride they want to put in MGM:veryconfu ) Just some thoughts.:p

I have to say duh.... to myself!! There is one princess ride... Snow white... I should remember that because on our first trip it scared the pants off my then 2 1/2 year old daughter!! She was finally able to brave the ride again last year... at nearly eight years old!! I didn't even try any of the other kids.. I knew they couldn't handle it. It is one of my favorite rides because 1) NO lines!! and 2) I'm a sucker for nostalgia. No matter how many times I go to wdw, and how old my kids are... they will ride Small World at least twice!!

The sells of the B & B DVD had nothing to do with the release of the other two DVDs. The Enchanted Christmas was out in 2001 Christmas year also, this new release was just a slightly improved version to fit in with the 3 packs. The new Christmas DVD has II on the side. The release dates of these DVD's were set for quite some time prior to any in store sells.

Now as far as the Major Rumor of a B & B ride... yeah right. It's fine to propose ideas that you want to see, but to claim something like this as almost fact, that's not good to do. I really don't believe it and don't see why they would do it.

On another note Beauty and the Beast is one of the most successful Disney Franchises ever. Disney has known this for quite some time, the sales figures were expected I'm sure or why would they have added a new Animation sequence and release the film as a two DVD set. I'm just not buying into the info you are reporting, sorry.

I wonder why Disney doesn't do more Princess movies. They become classics immediately.
I don't know where they thought they'd find an audience for some of their recent releases.
Shall we email Mr. Eisner? :veryconfu

Actually I would like to see more movies like The Lion King and Aladdin, those were two of the most recent movies I've enjoyed the most. Besides don't get me wrong all the princess movies have done great but would Disney want to be known as the studio that creates princess movies??? (Then again I guess it would be better than--the studio that created Treasure Planet:lol: ):lookaroun, I mean TP isn't that bad, but I'd still prefer something like The Lion King.

I think many people will be surprised when the figures for the Treasure Planer DVD come out. It's a truly great movie, MUCH better than Mulan, Pocahontas and Hunchback. Because of a poor marketing campaign, people thought it was another Atlantis and rejected it. It should be rediscovered in DVD and VHS, and the Oscar nomination sure didn't hurt! :D

 LOL!! Honestly, did anybody see treasure planet? Anybody at all? :snore: Me neither... although the kids got every friggin toy their McD's happy meals. Actually, I'd rather be known as the studio that creates princess movies than the studio that would be lost if it weren't for Pixar!!

That's a good hard smack in the face for Disney. I wonder if they see this, it does not appear so. Great Point.

If you care so much for Disney standards, you should definately see Treasure Planet. Not only it is hard to criticize something you never saw, I seriously believe you'd be surprised with the movie. I thought it was very moving, and it has a powerful message.

As a loyal Disney fan, I try and catch all the animated movies at Theaters, and some of the non animated (if they look worth the money) I did see Treasure Planet and I have to admit it wasn't all that bad, but it can't be compared with The Lion King or Beauty and the Beast. In my opinion I thought that Lilo and Stitch was a better movie, with a bigger and more powerful message. Also, I really like Atlantis, even more than Treasure Planet. TP is nice to watch, but when you really look at the movie does it make any sense to be flying in space in a huge ship with sails. I mean what about the elements of space (HOW THE HECK CAN THEY BREATHE UP THERE!!) The effects are good in TP, and yes the movie probably diserves a ride (cause it would make a darn good one). At the end of the day Disney has ceased to make classics. But hey, not everyones perfect...lets hope the future holds great classics.:lookaroun

The classics should get rides in the parks, but these new types like Treasure Planet and Atlantis should get their own rides aswell. (I don't know about anyone else, but I got the impression that Disney could make a whole park themed around Atlantis...oh wait thats just another dream):brick:

Is this rumor true? I'm not buying it. Anyways there is not room to put this attraction, especially where that "Storytime with Belle is. There is no room to put it. It would be a very tight squeeze. But it could be possible if you think about it.
