You never know. There should be another D23 in 2019 so I imagine we may have to wait for a lot of announcements. Just a gut feeling because they often disappoint with announcing stuff. I'm sure Disneyland gets a lot of attention.
Was D23 '15 disappointing?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Mickey announced this year. There are other options if they so choose. The decision to announce the DHS work came last-minute (and in some ways, it showed--especially TSL).

I feel like the disappointment will be for things in MK and Epcot, which would either be vague at this point or held off & used for the D23 in 2019.
Maybe with Tokyo's grand announcement of their BATB area (that has yet to be named) they'll want to go bigger with announcements for the state side?

I agree I wouldn't expect anything regarding MK this year and epcot we may see RAT announced along with the spine replacement (if they can market that). Then GMR and further details at DHS.

All I'm personally saying is don't get hopes up. We were lucky we got what was announced in 2015 IMHO, and yeah, I was a bit disappointed they didn't do more or say more about the DHS redo.

Rat isn't opening until 2020. They could and should announce it now, but they really don't have to. They could wait until 2019 when it's a year away. @marni1971 has hinted construction wouldn't be that visible to the guest if I'm remembering correctly.

Now the Mickey ride? July is D23, MansionButler has more or less said GMR is closing end of August/early September so that would work perfectly for an announcement.

I don't expect much for MK but who knows?

I don't see how they can close GMR until toy story land opens next year. You can't go down to 4 attractions in the park.

And 2020 for Rat is the typical time frame, 3 years if they break ground this May it will open May 2020. So perfect time to announce is at D23 this year.

And yet they will at DHS. They want Mickey to open with Star Wars. Simple math.

That depends on how we define attraction. Is HISTK playground equal to the Millennium Falcon ride to you? And I dare say A S S will be more fun than Cap'n Jack. I'll find any excuse to use that acronym. Recent aerials show fine pieces of A S S going in!
I guess I am thinking along the lines of Great Movie Ride turning into A Mickey ride.
