Portable Chargers

I saw that Disney has portable chargers you can buy at a station. I think it was $30 for unlimited swap outs, not sure if it is per day or per length of stay. Anyway, my question is has anyone used these portable charges while they were at Disney? Is it worth it?

I don't see how it could be worth it. You can buy one of your own for less than $10.

Or you can get one for free if you make nice with a vendor an IT conference. Thank you, Dell salesman!

If you order them online they are $20 plus $5 shipping so you only save $5. I got one my last trip and I love it. You buy the charger and it comes with all of the charger cords for droid and I-phone. You can swap out your empty charger pod at any time for free. They have machines at all 4 parks plus Disney Springs. They gave me a 60% charge on my droid. I swapped my at least once during the day to recharge my phone and then swapped it out again before I left the park so I have a fresh charge with me in the morning. Having to go to your phone to look up your FP+ and other reservations really takes a toll on your battery. Plus I use my phone to take pictures and when I go solo I read off of my Nook app on my phone. So I needed to charge it a couple times of day. It was amazingly convenient to always have a fully charged charging pod and I did not have to worry about not only charging my phone but also a charger every night. I think they are definitely worth it, especially if you need to charge your phone often. Plus now that I have it, I will take it back with my every trip.

Absolutely worth it in my opinion. They're a little more expensive than ones you get from Amazon, but having used one on my recent trip, it was very convenient. The ability to swap out for a fully-charged portable charger in just a few seconds, in any park, was great. I only wish they had a few more swap stations in Epcot (one up front, one in the back) -- that place is large.

How many times do you anticipate needing a re-charge?
I have a slightly older iPhone that I also use as my camera; between communicating with my 12-person group that tended to scatter, keeping track of things on the app, and taking pictures, I can go through a charge a couple of times a day. Especially as my phone tends to die when it hits 18% or so. Being able to swap out chargers on the fly was great for me.

This same charger would probably cost $10 in the real world, but just like everything at WDW it's going to come with a substantial mark-up.

You are buying the perk of full chargers on demand... not just a rechargeable battery. It also can be used for multiple devices. You are basically buying time... time you no longer have to wait for a device to charge before you are mobile again.

Waste of money! You can get them at dollar tree (while not good quality) but to pay $30 for this, no. Try walmart, I was in there earlier and they sold them for $8.88. Check the kz (i think that is what its called). When buying a portable charger, you want a higher wattage.

Might be worth it if you get there, realize you need one, dont have one, and dont have have the transportation to leave property to buy one.
